Meet Maxine Maxine is a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois who came to us from an overcrowded shelter, and like many dogs of her breed, the shelter environment has been tough on her. Malinois are incredibly intelligent, active, and sensitive dogs who thrive with structure and purpose—something that’s hard to find in a kennel. Because of that, Maxine would truly benefit from finding her forever home as soon as possible. Since arriving with us, Maxine has already shown just how adaptable and sweet she is. She’s settled in nicely and has calmed down significantly, allowing her loving personality to shine through. This girl is an absolute sweetheart who adores squeaky toys, lives for a good game of fetch, and will happily do just about anything for a tasty treat. Maxine does well meeting new people, though she may bark a bit at first as she figures things out. Once she knows you’re a friend, she warms up and is eager to connect. Important Adoption Information: Maxine will only be adopted to applicants with approved applications, and homes must be appropriate for her breed and needs. Belgian Malinois require experienced, committed owners who understand their energy level, intelligence, and drive. Adopters will be carefully and thoughtfully hand-selected to ensure the very best fit for Maxine’s future.

Meet Scott! 🐾 Scott is an adult German Shepherd with a very sweet heart and a very smart mind. He knows basic commands like sit and enjoys learning and engaging with his people. Scott loves going on walks, playing games, and will happily invite you to join in on the fun. When playtime is over, he’s just as happy soaking up affection, especially pets and belly rubs. With his loyal nature and playful spirit, Scott would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for both an active and affectionate best friend. Scott is a mix of two working-breed dogs, which means he will likely need ongoing training and consistent mental stimulation throughout his life. He did begin basic obedience training through our prison program; however, his strong dislike of golf carts caused his training to end earlier than planned. Scott will thrive with a confident, experienced handler who understands the needs of working breeds—both mentally and physically—and can provide the structure, engagement, and guidance he requires to succeed. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A meet-and-greet is required for all shelter dogs if you already have a dog. Hi! I’m Wren ♥️ Let me tell you my story 📚 I used to have a friend named Winnie 😔 Out on the streets, it was always me and her together. We slept curled up against each other at night because it was cold and scary, and we only had each other. She was sicker than I understood, but I stayed close anyway. She was my safety, my family, my whole world 🌎 People finally tried to help us. They fought for Winnie 😔 They rushed her to emergency care and hoped maybe love had found us in time. But sometimes life is cruel to dogs who have been forgotten for too long, and Winnie didn’t make it. She did get to experience six days of a warm home and love 🥹 I don’t really understand where she went. I just know one minute she was beside me, and then suddenly I was alone 😔 After Winnie died, I ended up at the shelter. Loud noises, strange people, and so many barking dogs, I was terrified. I kept waiting for her to come back for me, but she never did 💔 That’s when they decided to save me too. They named me Wren, but the truth is I think I’m here because people saw how much Winnie mattered. They didn’t want her story to end with both of us being lost. So in honor of her, they tagged me and promised my life would mean something too 🥹 I’m safe now. I am fully vetted, I am fed, I am warm. But I’m still learning how to stop being afraid all the time 🥺 I’m very shy when I meet new people. I want to trust you, I really do, but the world hasn’t always been kind to me. Sometimes I hang back and just watch quietly, trying to figure out if I’m safe. But if you are patient with me, something soft begins to happen. I’ll start following you from room to room. I’ll lie nearby just because being close to you feels nice. I’ll look at you with my whole heart once I realize you aren’t going to hurt me. I like other dogs. They make me feel calmer. I’m gentle, quiet, and honestly just looking for a place where nobody expects me to be perfect right away ♥ I know I’m not the easiest dog in the world 😔 I may not run into your arms the first day we meet. I may need time to learn what love feels like when it’s safe and permanent. But I promise once I trust you, I will love you in the quietest, deepest way. I survived the streets. I survived losing Winnie. Now I’m just hoping there’s someone out there who will choose me 🥹 Not because they pity me, but because they see me.
