He forgets how large he is and tries to climb in his foster mom’s lap. He thrives on attention and would make someone a great companion. Diego is guessed to be around 4 years old. He rides well in vehicles, walks well on a leash and is super affectionate.  He is the best boy ever!!! Meet Max! Max came to the shelter on 02/28/2026 after his owner sadly passed away. It’s been a big change for him, but Max is doing his best and showing everyone what a good, loyal boy he is. Max is a very intelligent and active dog who thrives when he has something to do. If you throw a ball, Max will happily bring it back… and then sit there looking at you like, “That was great. Let’s do that again. Immediately.” Fetch is easily one of his favorite things in the world. He’s friendly, playful, and clearly enjoys spending time with people. Max is the type of dog who wants to be part of your life — whether that’s going for walks, playing in the yard, learning new tricks, or just hanging out nearby making sure you’re doing things correctly. Because he’s such a smart and energetic guy, he’ll do best with someone who enjoys keeping their dog mentally and physically engaged. In his previous home, Max was on anxiety medication, so his future family should be willing to continue working with their veterinarian to make sure he stays comfortable and supported. With the right routine and care, Max has all the potential to be an incredibly devoted companion. He’s a handsome, smart, and loving dog who just needs someone to help him start his next chapter. And if that chapter happens to include a lot of fetch, Max will consider that an excellent life decision. Say Hi to Onyx!This sweet girl has had quite a journey. She is a 4 year old German Shepherd whose life started in an Amish puppy mill. Onyx had been used for breeding until she was discarded. Thankfully she made her way to us so her healing journey could begin. She was a shell of a dog when she arrived. So terrified of humans she would just cower in her crate and never want to leave. She spent several months in our prison training program and found GREAT success! Our handlers did a wonderful job teaching her that humans are loving.  Onyx has learned her basic obedience skills and proven she is very smart! She is hesitant in new situations, but sooo much better than when she came. She has moved to a foster home and is doing great! She enjoys being with the other dogs, running around in the backyard, rolling in the grass and is so ready for her next chapter. Her ideal home would have a fenced in backyard, another dog or 2 to show her the ropes and patient owners who understand she will need time to adjust. Even in her fear Onyx has never shown any aggression! She wants to trust and be part of the family.  She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and HW negative.
