Story
Dog's Name: Phoenix Gender: Male Current Age: 15 months Current Weight: 50 lbs. as of Aug. 1 Breed: German Shepherd Energy Level: Medium-High Dog Friendly: Unknown. The neighbor’s dog greets him through the fence, and there is only tails wagging. Cat Friendly: Unknown Kids: Unknown Apartment Friendly: No Fence Requirements: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise. Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home / Adopter: Phoenix would do best with an adopter who can give him plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. He loves spending time outside and watching the world go by, He walks well on a leash and is building confidence in unfamiliar surroundings. Phoenix is comfortable spending time in his crate, making him a nice match for someone who appreciates a dog who enjoys companionship without needing to be by their side every minute. When faced with storms, while not his favorite, he puts himself in his kennel and calmly stays there until the storm passes. Likes: Loves to collect sticks. Currently, his favorite toy is a squeaky ball. While he behaves, he is working on manners, and he loves to be “chased” when he is being coaxed to come in. He seems to be independent in that he is not a Velcro dog. One of his favorite antics is taking his toys outside until there are none left in the house. He also likes to announce his presence to the world when going outside. Dislikes: None He prefers the floor over furniture. He does not surf the counters and expects you to keep his water bowl full at all times. He makes a game of coming into the house before he is ready, and his foster swears he has a grin on his face when they’re trying to coax him in. Phoenix is an independent, playful guy who loves collecting sticks, carrying his toys outside, and keeping an eye on the world around him. He’s come a long way in foster care and is learning to enjoy affection more each day. His goofy “catch me if you can” game when it’s time to come inside is just part of his charm. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, and the dog will be current on flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. ##2733996##

Story
Name: Tori Gender: Female Age: 9 years (10 on 10/30) Current Weight: 50 lbs Expected Adult Size: Medium (25-50 lbs) Breed: German Shepherd Dog Energy Level: Low-Medium Dog Friendly: No and cannot live with other dogs. Tori has been friendly with some dogs she's met on walks, but has never had success playing with another dog or sharing space with one. Cat Friendly: No Kid Friendly: No Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise Crate Trained: Tori isn't crate trained and doesn't need it, she has perfect manners and never chews anything or has accidents Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Tori's ideal home would be somewhere she gets excercise and playtime everyday. She is a senior dog but she still has great energy levels! She needs someone who loves her and listens to her boundaries. She's sweet and affectionate, but it needs to be on her terms. Likes: Tori loves walks, her stuffed bear, squeaky tennis balls, rolling on the grass, and her self appointed job as the neighborhood watch (staring out the window all day). She also loves "helping" with outside chores and greeting the neighbor dog through the fence. Dislikes: Tori doesn't like baths, rough-housing, being outside alone, or when strangers move too quickly around her. Additional Considerations: Tori came to us with a liver condition. She's very healthy now and her liver tests well, but she will be on medication for the rest of her life. What makes this dog special: One of our favorite things about Tori is how funny she is. She's shy at first but has a personality once she gets to know you. She is also incredibly smart. There are multiple commands and words that she learned just from listening to people talk, including basically every word for food. She also taught herself the word "cross". One day on a walk her foster asked if she wanted to cross the street and was shocked when she just turned and did it. This is now a regular part of her walks, if they see a person or a dog coming and say cross and she'll do it. This old girl is up for learning all of the new tricks. Tori's adoption fee is $195. She is eligible for a reduced adoption fee through our senior for seniors program.  All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved.  ##891813##

Story
Meet Rosemary! DOB: 12/31/25 Gender: Female Expected Adult Size: Medium (26-50lbs) Breed: Pit Bull Mix (DNA test shows 21 different breeds and the results can be shared with an adopter) Enegery Level: Medium Dog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog. Cat Friendly: No Kid Friendly: Older kids would be best Apartment Friendly: No Fence Requirements: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks and exercise.  No invisible fences will be considered for Rosemary. Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home: Rosemary loves playing with other dogs, but it's not a requirement in her new home.  She would do best with a dog that's on the calmer side, but still likes to play.  Rosemary spent the first 3 months of her life in a shelter and wasn't socialized with many people or kids.  She can be initially suspcious of strangers, but with some treats and time, she warms up.  Because of her initial hesitation with people, older kids in the home would be best.  Rosemary is the perfect work from home companion, but she's also great in a crate and would do well if you had to go into the office.  If Rosemary doesn't have a playmate in the home, she would be happy with several 15-30 minute walks a day and doesn't need a ton of exercise. Likes: Rosemary loves belly scratches, head pets, foot squeezes, lying in laps, falling asleep in laps, falling asleep on another dog’s butt, whatever kind of cuddling she can get! Dislikes: Rosemary has shown us that she's not a fan of cats and will chase them. Adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, flea and heartworm current. Apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet and greet can be set up once approved.  ##2669616##
