Meet Cairo, a ridiculously handsome Belgian Malinois with Olympic-level energy, a heart of gold, and the emotional range of a golden retriever on espresso. Cai’s hobbies include: Sprinting like he’s being chased by his own ambition Hiking like he’s training for a National Geographic documentary Playing fetch like it’s a competitive sport (bring two balls unless you enjoy being outwitted) Dominating agility, dock diving, barn hunt—honestly, if it involves movement and showing off, he’s in. He’s crate trained (but expects an explanation if you’re having fun without him), super treat-motivated, and polishing up his manners—including learning not to greet people like a linebacker. Cai is a ride-or-die kind of guy. He loves confident humans (bonus points if you’re female, but competent dudes are welcome too). Now neutered, he’s channeling his energy into learning, bonding, and gradually retiring his career in artistic leg-lifting. Now, let’s talk about his one true nemesis: weather extremes. &#226&#152&#128&#239&#184&#143 Too hot? He’s filing an HR complaint. &#226&#157&#132&#239&#184&#143 Too cold? He wants a parka and a written apology. &#226&#155&#136&#239&#184&#143 Thunderstorms? If there’s even one cloud with attitude, Cairo is going on strike. If it’s raining hard or thundering faintly in the next ZIP code, he’ll hold it until the skies are blue and the squirrels are singing again. He’s not dramatic—just extremely specific. Cai’s dream home includes: &#226&#156&#133 No tiny humans (unless they’re part-ninja) &#226&#156&#133 Dog-savvy adults who know a Malinois isn’t a “chill in the backyard” kind of vibe &#226&#156&#133 A playful female dog or easygoing small male &#226&#156&#133 Maybe a cat—he’s curious, not criminal If you’re ready for a smart, hilarious, occasionally weather-phobic best friend who’ll love you like it’s his job, Cairo’s your guy. He might steal your heart, your shoes, and your spot on the couch—but you’ll never be bored again. Message Kelli Fort-Williamson to meet this high-voltage goofball and start your next adventure. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ____________________________________________________________ Daria AdamsLooking for a shadow you’ll never shake? Meet Radar. Radar is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois in Arkansas who’s back with ABMR through no fault of his own—his person’s new job has wild hours, and Radar’s idea of “work-life balance” is being glued to your side 24/7. At 65 lbs of love and loyalty, Radar is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and fully qualified to be your live-in best friend. His hobbies include cuddling, supervising your chores, and reminding you that life’s more fun when he’s included. He knows sit, lay down, here, and kennel. Fetch is still under construction, but he gives it his best shot. Walking on leash? Let’s just say the harness is his current stylist of choice. He’s also extremely food motivated (yes, he’ll be first in line for snacks), and he’s cool if you touch his bowl. Radar loves kids 10+ (because he sometimes forgets he’s not lapdog-sized), does well with other big dogs who aren’t bossy, and has previously been fine with small dogs and even cats—with supervision, of course. Now, fair warning: Radar doesn’t like being left out. If you’re having fun without him, he will let you know. This boy wants a family who’s around often or who will happily take him along for life’s adventures. If you’ve been dreaming of a partner-in-crime who will stick with you through thick and thin (and make sure you never fold laundry alone again), Radar is your guy. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Brittany Berger/Daria Adams  Currently fostered in VA Looking for a dog with a heart as big as her ears? Meet Bela — a gentle, soulful girl who’s been patiently waiting for her person to come along. Bela is more reserved than her outgoing sister, but don’t let that fool you — once she trusts you, she really trusts you. Her fosters describe her as sweet, sensitive, and smart as a whip. &#226&#156&#168 A few things to know about Bela: She loves head and ear rubs (prepare to be charmed by her little white chin while she leans into your hand). Knows sit and stay — unless a squirrel, cat, or deer tempts her wild side. Polite at mealtimes — sits and waits to be told she can eat. Walks great on a leash and is comfortable with a collar or harness. Prefers not to be crated (she’s been known to Houdini her way out). She sleeps peacefully on a dog bed in the bedroom at night, but is crated when her humans leave the house. Protective of her toys and treats, but no issues with food. Needs supervision in a fenced yard — this girl has serious squirrel-chasing dreams and can climb fences (and yes, even trees). Not cat-friendly, and barks at visitors, but settles down once everyone is inside and seated. Then, she’ll graciously accept pets and attention like the dignified queen she is. She may shake at the vet or hang back in new situations, but Bela has a kind and trusting heart. With a patient adopter and a bit of encouragement, she’ll blossom into your most loyal companion.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.  October 14, 2025, 10:52 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Chris Wood Johan is approximately 8 years old and is a handler’s dream . He is people focused and wants to learn. You absolutely can absolutely teach this dog new tricks! Or at least he is ready to brush up on his old ones. No one really knows what Johan (meaning “champion”) has in store for the future. Johan is a Malinois who found himself in a shelter when his owner had a medical emergency. When no one came for him, he found himself on the euthanasia list. He was a favorite at the shelter, so much so that when our evaluator showed up, he was MIA. Come to find out, he was assisting with clerical duties in the shelter office . While he does better with slow, appropriate introductions on neutral territory when he meets new people, he LOVES the attention he receives. Just keep the pressure off and be mindful of slight changes in his body language; he is a Malinois after all. This is a dog who wagged his tail on the exam table at the vet once everyone passed his examinations! Peanut butter? That’s another key to his heart. Johan’s preferred rewards for hard work include treats, ball play, and the aforementioned peanut butter. When out on woodland walks, he will also locate lost toys and bring them back home.    This Maligator is smart as a whip . After a week in foster, he knows sit, place, down, and is getting a leash manner refresher. Ball is life, but he also loves to play with the resident Tervuren. While he can be a little forward with her, he takes her corrections well and will back off when asked. Johan comes with a fabulous off switch once his mind and body are exercised!   Due to Johan’s prey drive and protective nature, he will NOT be placed with children younger than 13 or small, prey sized animals (cats, chickens, small dogs, etc.). He needs a family who understands the necessary boundary setting and exercise for a working line dog.    Don’t let Johan’s age fool you. The shelter and veterinarian estimate that he is 8-years-young, but upon meeting him, you would swear he’s only 4 or 5.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.  November 22, 2025, 11:33 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Chris Wood Draven may be intimidating in appearance, but this approximately 18-month-old boy has a heart of gold! His name means “child of the shadows” marking his quiet demeanor and preference to move through the world quietly at your side. Draven loves to play and thus far has not exhibited a single grumbly behavior. He has even won the heart of the dog selective female Malinois at his foster home! He’s also shown her up a few times with his phenomenal nose, tracking backyard critters she missed. Nosework potential? Possibly. He is  crate trained and is one of the rare Malinois who is fine in a wire crate. At night he sleeps on the floor next to foster mom inside an ex-pen and does really well. He has no desire to escape as he just wants to be included in everything his person does – right down to sleep! Draven was heartworm positive, but he has completed his treatment and rest period. He has practiced and knows the commands sit, kennel, and come. Draven is also house trained, having never had an accident inside, and he could not care less about thunderstorms. This Maligator is a pleaser, and he does great with new people as long as he is the one to approach them. While he is a total love, he can’t be placed with really young children or small animals as he doesn’t realize he is an 85 pound dog who is a typical  mouthy Malinois. While his herding nips have decreased in frequency, he still likes to mouth his humans. While the littlest humans are a hard no, he would be happy in a home with tweens +, so they can replace the lost hugs his foster-teen offers.  Draven is looking at the world through a new lens with his loving foster family. There seem to be many things he has not experienced, and this includes bees. His foster mom reports that Draven was absolutely mesmerized by the critter and sat observing it with big, Bambi eyes as it buzzed about. We are sure you will find Draven equally mesmerizing!  A special note from Draven: “Hey, potential adopter! I ABSITIVELY POSOLUTELY LOVE ice cubes. They appear rather simple to make, yet Foster Mama keeps telling me they are expensive and that I should value them. Do you have a more affordable stash for me? My perfect forever will have a never ending supply. Plink!” Are you ready for your next big adventure? Are you looking for a Malinois who will adventure with you but has a great off switch when it’s time to savor the memories and rest up for the next bout of fun? A shadow who will attach to your hip and take in the world with you? Draven may be the gentle natured giant you are looking for!  He is located in Alabama, and reasonable transport can be arranged.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.ABMR thanks you for taking the time to look at our malinois available for adoption.  November 23, 2025, 5:35 am
