Story

Ellie is a gorgeous 11 month old female dog. We believe her to be a Malinois or Malinois mix. She currently weighs about 40 pounds. We expect her fill out a little more, but do not expect her to get much larger. Ellie was abandoned in rural Texas. Either prior to being abandoned or while living on her own her rear leg was severely injured. After being picked up by animal control and being brought to the shelter, she received the amputation she desperately needed. She has now healed, gained weight, and is ready to be adopted! She gets along well with other dogs and she loves people of all ages. She is high energy- she doesn't let one less leg get her down! She would love an active family who will train her to her full potential! She is up to date on vaccines, dewormed and microchipped, and she comes with her medical records and interstate health certificate from a veterinary examination prior to leaving Texas, which certifies her to be in good condition. Her adoption fee is $500, which will be used to support the many animals in our care whose medical bills far surpass their much lower adoption fee. If she does not receive an adoption hold prior to his arrival in WI, she will be available to meet at our upcoming adoption events or by appointment with her foster family. He is a big, tall boy. He has no sense of personal space. Good with baths and being touched all over. Fred is a ball fiend; to say he has ball drive is an understatement! Once trust is earned, he will bring the ball back again and again. He never tires of this game. He walks pretty well on a flat collar. He is the dog that needs firm boundaries. He will try to test the limits. His recall is good without distractions (no balls or cats/bunnies) Has been good in his limited house time. Good in a kennel and great in his crate. He has not destroyed his comfy bed. Absolutely no balls in the house or he will chase one with no care in the world. He could take out all the furniture, slam into all his surroundings until the ball is found. A bit of a klutz if focused on something (BALL) or cat/bunnies. His prey drive is high…no cats. He’s very interested. Will redirect with firmness on leash. In his outside kennel he is reactive to people and other dogs. This could be worked on. When free outside his kennel he will go up to another kenneled dog and say hi nicely most of the time. I feel with the proper introductions he could live with another dog that is a lower energy level then him. This boy loves to run. He will need daily exercise. A fenced in yard would be his dream. He is great with keeping himself occupied either with a ball or stick. He is a sweetheart once you get to know him. He’d make a great active retirement buddy for someone with patience who is familiar with the breed. Someone with working dog experience would be great! He has lots of drive that has never been developed in the proper way Looking for an experienced adopter. One who will let him decompress and get to know him without pressure. This means no outings for at least a week or two. A dog like Fred will need his personal space while getting acclimated. The best way to help him feel secure would be to not introduce him to everyone right away. Don’t expect anything from him except good behavior. Let him get to know and trust you. Someone who reads body language would be great. This boy gives the biggest whale eyes and does a mean side eye. He can be very pushy and overstimulated when a ball is involved but will be the most wonderful dog with the right person. Madison – FL (courtesy post) Age: 2 years Housetrained – Spayed Female – Fawn with black mask Owner experience: Breed (Malinois experienced) – Mild shedding Reaction to new people: very shy at first, but warms up quickly No cats, no small dogs. Ok with respectful kids. Basic obedience: sit, down, leave it, drop it, and excellent recall. Fully vaccinated, wormed, and up to date on HeartGard and NexGard. Meet Madison, 55 pounds of action and fun. At not quite 2 years old, this girl will keep you on your toes, whether it’s tossing the Frisbee, throwing the ball, or spraying the hose while she snaps wildly at the water. Give her a kiddie pool and she will roll around in it! Madison has not yet been introduced to dog sports, but I am sure she would love it (she literally does airborne cartwheels when catching the Frisbee). Her retreat is her crate, her safe space from scary things. While most nights she sleeps in her crate, she is also allowed free roam of the house at night, where she sleeps on the couch. She has impeccable house manners. Maddie is a very sweet, lovable girl who can curl up on your lap and snooze for an hour or even cuddle with another dog on the couch. But her bursts of energy – zoomies – can sometimes be a bit much for other dogs, this is why she should probably be an only child. J She has never so much as raised a lip to another dog. Totally non-food-aggressive, not even with her favorite toys (she loves to tug with other dogs), it’s just the super rough horse-play that can give other dogs the wrong impression. But overall she’s a really good sport; getting her nails cut & filed (dremel) at the groomer, good at the vet, walks amongst other dogs at events (a little scared with tail tucked since she doesn’t get out much), and will just stick close to her person for comfort. She is very gentle when taking treats. This sweet girl deserves a loving home with a family of her own. Located in Lake City, Florida, reasonable transport can be arranged for the right home.
