Story
Meet Gabby, a 2-year-old, 42-lb German Shepherd mix with the perfect blend of brains, energy, and heart. This housetrained girl does fine in her crate, though it’s not her favorite place to be, she’d much rather be out exploring or playing! Gabby thrives on activity. She loves running around with her canine foster siblings, enjoys high-energy games like fetch, and never says no to a toy or a good bone to chew on. She’s incredibly smart and catches on to new things quickly, making her a fantastic candidate for continued training. She’ll flourish in an active home—especially with someone who has shepherd or working-breed experience and can help exercise both her body and mind. With dedication to obedience training, she’s going to turn into a truly exceptional companion. Gabby did well with her foster’s 4-year-old grandchild, though she may try to chase if little ones run and she’s still learning to take treats gently. She’s been described as friendly, confident, adaptable, happy, playful, and loyal—everything you could hope for in a shepherd mix. If you’re looking for a bright, energetic partner ready to take on the world with you, Gabby is your girl. Her adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Acadia! This beautiful German Shepherd mix was born around April 7, 2025, and currently weighs about 41 pounds. While she can still be a little reserved when faced with new situations, she warms up quickly and shows her sweet, affectionate personality. She’s a gentle, treat-motivated girl who likes to be near her people, though she often prefers to cuddle with her canine pals. Acadia is house-trained, crate-trained, and great with both kids and other dogs. She enjoys zooming around the yard and playing with her sister, but she’s the calmer of the two. She’s still working on her puppy manners, but she’s coming along nicely and learning fast. True to her breed mix, Acadia will thrive in an active home where she can stay both physically and mentally engaged. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, she’ll continue to build confidence and grow into a loyal, loving companion.  Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
KiKi is a special girl. She was trapped running loose in Bloomington. She has been an angel to other dogs, big and small. She is not one to appreciate being on a leash yet and needs work on that. She will be required to have a 6 foot fence as of now. This is for her safety until she gets more acclimated. She gives her foster mom a kiss every morning and tail wags. She currently uses a doggy door at her foster home. All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be processing any applications on that day. Do get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). Counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
