Story
Jo came to us from another shelter. It is always sad when an older dog comes to us, because they have to adjust to living in a kennel situation and it is terribly confusing for them. Even though she is older she has a lot of energy, and is extremely strong. We have found she walks much better on a gentle leader than a traditional leash. She needs someone with German Shepherd breed experience and allow her time to open up to you and show you her sweet nature. She is new to us, so there are things still unknown as far as her likes and dislikes, she has not been around children yet and would do best in a home without other dogs. She is currently healing from a skin infection, so her haircut is a bit different, but will grow back and she will be even more beautiful than before. DOB 10-8-14 93 poundsI'm waiting for a home to call my own. email webmaster@petrefuge.com to learn more about me or fill out an application at https://www.petrefuge.com/adoptPet Refuge was formed in 1978 to help with cats and dogs in need of homes. Story
If you’re looking for a companion Pearl is your girl! Pearl is a sweetheart. She’s smart, caring, and a beautiful dog with a social personality- She’s quick to become your little shadow.  At 2 years old, Pearl is very adaptable, eager to learn and please. She is an extremely affectionate girl who loves giving kisses and hugs. Pearl enjoys going on long walks and playing fetch so she will need to be housed in an active home, preferably with a yard, as one of her other favorite things is laying in the sun with her ball. When you’re ready to relax she is apt to cuddle up with you and will sleep for hours on end. Pearl perfectly house trained and will clearly let you know when it’s time.  Pearl does require a one dog home. If you are viewing this pet's profile on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet,.please use the application link at the bottom of the profile to apply. Clicking the "Ask About" button does not submit an application. It only submits a question which will delay an application submission.    All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an online application here: www.heartlandsmallanimalrescue.org/canine-application.html ##1768335##

Story
I'm Stauros and I was surrendered to the shelter because my owner passed away. I am here due to no fault of my own. Im 6 years old and weigh 98 pounds. I am crate trained and I get along with other dogs. I am a staff favorite and I have been really loving the affection from every one here. I am potty trained. I walk really well on a leash and love when the volunteers take me for walks. I have done very well with all of the changes around me, but I would love to get settled and call some where my home again.
