Story
Hi, my name’s Magpie!I arrived at GHS in July 2026. I`m known for my sweet nature and how affectionate I am once we get to know each other, though I do typically avoid strangers at first and can remain a bit on edge with new people in my home. Once I love my people, I really love my people, and that means I may bark when you try to approach them. With positive training, I`ve already shown nice progress in this area. My favourite activity is sniffing around and following my nose—there`s so much to explore! I`m looking for a forever home where I can share all the love I have; I would love to join a calm and relaxed family that will patiently build their bond with me.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers should be fine, no young children as I do have a timid side.OTHER DOGS: No, I don`t enjoy sharing with other dogs and that makes it difficult for me to live with them, however I don`t mind having some calm dog friends for walks or short, managed visits.CATS: No, I would like to be the only pet and get all the attention.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has previous dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Not necessarily.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.SPECIAL DIET: Yes, I’m on a hypoallergenic diet.MEDICATIONS: Yes, I take a daily oral medication to help with my itching. If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me by copying and pasting the following link to fill out the questionnaire: https://guelphhumane.ca/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=frm_forms_preview&form=7y88o.The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more at https://guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project/.

Story
Hey there, my name is Bond!WHAT YOU’LL LOVE ABOUT ME…- I’m already doing well with my house-training and rarely have accidents if I`m taken out regularly.- I enjoy playing with other dogs.- I love toys and don`t seem to be too mouthy of a pup, but if I do start using my mouth, I redirect well to a toy.- I am a very good boy and doing well with training. I love when my humans praise me and tell me how good I am.MY NEW FAMILY SHOULD…- Know that I am nervous when people raise their hands or reach for my collar.- Provide me with lots of durable toys since I like to chew up stuffies.- Understand that I will need crate training to go slow if you plan to do it since currently I get upset and bark if confined.- Be prepared for a large dog since it`s unknown how big I will be once fully grown.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…- CHILDREN: Teenagers should be fine, but no young children since I can be sensitive about people`s movements.- OTHER DOGS: Yes, with a dog who will enjoy the energy of a puppy.- CATS: Potentially, with a cat who is confident around dogs and won`t be overwhelmed by a puppy.- FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has dog experience and can read my body language to know if I`m nervous.- FENCED-IN YARD: Not required. But a safe space to run would be great to help burn some energy.- HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No environments where noise is a concern since I sometimes bark when my humans leave.- SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: I would benefit from a home where I won`t be left for a full work day yet.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…- ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium-high.- HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes but expect some accidents as I adjust. Frequent outings and praise will keep things on the right track. If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!
