QUICK FACTS Name: Avan Age: 1 Year Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Malinois–Jindo Mix Color: Tan with black muzzle Weight: 12kg / 26.4lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from the euthanasia list at the Miryang City Shelter in Korea. Although the shelter environment was unfamiliar and overwhelming at first, I showed gentle curiosity toward people even on my first day after rescue. With time, stability, and kindness, I’m continuing to adjust and learn what it means to feel safe.   MY PERSONALITY My name is Avan. I’m a quiet, thoughtful boy with a calm presence. I may seem a little shy at first, and while I’ll accept treats right away, I prefer to be touched once I’ve had time to feel comfortable. I’m not overly clingy or expressive, but I enjoy being around people in a steady, reassuring way. You could describe me as an “aloof but kind son” — I may not constantly ask for attention, but I like knowing my people are nearby and I form gentle, trusting bonds over time.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS • With People: I can be cautious around unfamiliar people and may bark when meeting someone new. With time and treats, I warm up and allow handling. I can be picked up comfortably. I have not yet met children under 13. • With Dogs: I’m friendly and social with other dogs and will approach both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to say hello. I tend to feel comfortable around dogs similar to or larger than my size. If another dog provokes me, I may respond, so slow and supervised introductions with new dogs are important. • With Cats: I have not yet been tested with cats. (A cat test can be conducted upon request to ensure the best fit.)   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy outdoor activities and walks, and once I’ve had enough exercise, I settle down calmly indoors. I generally follow my handler well on leash, though I may pull at times. Since my walking experience is still limited, I may freeze or lie down when I encounter something unfamiliar or scary. With patient guidance, my confidence continues to grow.   TRAINING & HABITS I do not guard food from people or other dogs. I may bark when I want something or when meeting unfamiliar people. I’m calm and well-behaved in a kennel and adapt well to routines. With consistency and positive reinforcement, I continue to make steady progress in a home environment.   MY IDEAL HOME I would do best in a calm, understanding home that allows me to settle in at my own pace. I would thrive with: • A patient family who respects my quieter personality • Gentle guidance and consistent routines • Supervised introductions with new dogs • A stable environment where trust can build naturally   SPECIAL NOTES Avan is not a dog who demands attention, but he quietly enjoys companionship and forms meaningful bonds over time. He has a reserved, “quiet son” kind of charm — steady, observant, and gentle with his people. For a family who appreciates a calm, thoughtful companion rather than an overly expressive one, Avan will be a deeply rewarding presence and a loyal part of the household.   Avan's Youtube Playlist Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2633200##

Story
QUICK FACTS Name: Adele Age: About 3 Years Old Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Malinois Mix Color: Brown with Black Muzzle Weight: 22kg / 48.5lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I once waited quietly in a city shelter, not knowing what tomorrow would bring. Each day felt uncertain, and my future seemed to grow smaller with time. Then, just when hope was fading, someone reached out for me. I was rescued from the euthanasia list and given the chance to start over. Since then, I've been discovering a different kind of life—one filled with kindness, comfort, and people who believe in me. Now I spend my days looking ahead, ready to make new memories and share my gentle heart with those around me.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Spayed & healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY I may look a little serious when we first meet, but don’t let that fool you—I’m actually a soft-hearted girl with a wonderfully sweet side. Once I feel comfortable, I turn into a total cuddle bug who loves attention, gentle affection, and sneaking in a few kisses whenever I can. My adorable sausage-shaped figure and slightly goofy expressions seem to make people smile, and I’m perfectly happy to lean into the charm. At home, I’m wonderfully relaxed. After enjoying a nice walk and settling into the day, you’ll often find me stretched out somewhere cozy, happily catching up on my beauty sleep. I’m the kind of companion who brings a calm, comforting presence to a home—always nearby, always sweet, and always ready for a little affection when the mood strikes.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be a little reserved when meeting new people, but I’m happy to accept treats and start getting to know you at my own pace. Once I feel comfortable and have had a chance to build some trust, I enjoy gentle affection and allow handling without trouble. I’m comfortable being picked up with support under my belly, and although I haven’t had the opportunity to meet children under 13 yet, I continue to grow more confident as I experience new people and situations. · With Dogs: When I meet a new dog, I’m usually happy to walk over and exchange a polite greeting, but I’m not much of a playgroup type. I tend to feel most comfortable around calmer dogs, especially those who are smaller than me, while very energetic dogs can sometimes make me feel a bit overwhelmed. Although I generally prefer to mind my own business, I may react if another dog is confrontational, so careful introductions with unfamiliar dogs help me get off to a good start. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have low energy level – I‘m a calm and easygoing dog who enjoys taking life at a relaxed pace. Most of the time, you’ll find me happily lounging nearby and taking things easy. On walks, I can occasionally get a little eager and pull on the leash, but I stay connected to my person and generally follow along well, making me a pleasant companion to spend time with.   TRAINING & HABITS I have a gentle, easygoing nature and don’t feel the need to guard my food around people or other dogs. I’m generally a quiet companion who rarely barks I settle comfortably when resting in a kennel. I have flexible bathroom habits, as I’m accustomed to both indoor pee pads and going outside.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together A family that will love and cherish me forever   SPECIAL NOTES I can be a little nervous around men at first and may need some extra time to feel comfortable. I do best when people let me approach at my own pace and allow trust to develop naturally. Once I realize I’m safe, I gradually relax and begin to show my sweet and gentle personality.    ADELE'S YOUTUBE PLAYLIST   Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.co ##2755802##

Story
Hi, I’m Banjo!I`m quite the social butterfly and do well meeting new people and new dogs! I have had a rough first year of life, spending time in a few different homes. I do like to get into things when I`m bored or stressed and, since I`m such a large fella, I can reach things on counters pretty easily. I don`t like when humans take things from me and can be possessive in these cases. I`ve made some good progress with resource guarding training but will need a human who can continue this good work - who has the time to make sure I get lots of enrichment through walks, play, puzzles, etc. and who has the patience and interest in helping me learn not to get into things - like shoes and stuff on the counter.I can also be sensitive and worry sometimes that bad things might happen to me. Therefore, I will need a kind and gentle human who doesn`t yell at me or do scary things when they`re unhappy with me. This will make sure I am set up for success and make good progress in my training. I`m a smart boy who is motivated by toys/play and yummy treats. I`m a delight to walk and will snuggle up with you as much as you would like! MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: Teenagers should be good, but no young kids given my tendency to steal items and guard them.OTHER DOGS: Yes, a friendly dog in the home would be a great way to help burn some of my energy and help keep me out of trouble. CATS: I could be a good match with a cat confident around large dogs, after a proper introduction.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, given my history of resource guarding and continued management and training, I will be best set up for success with a family who has experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Not required.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any, as long as you have a realistic plan for meeting my exercise needs as a young, large dog! Do note that I may bark when stressed (and the first days or weeks home are often stressful for any dog) so homes where this will be a problem won`t be ideal.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessary. If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the “Adopt Me” button to apply!FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me by copying and pasting the following link to fill out the questionnaire: https://guelphhumane.ca/wp-admin/adm
