Story
Polaris is a young girl who was found dumped on the side of the road with a bag of dog food dumped on the ground as her only help for survival. A good samaritan picked her up and contacted me. Help Polaris never face that kind of treatment again by giving her a forever home. She is very sweet and friendly and great with other dogs and people and kids. She definitely has a prey drive though, which is not at all unusual for dogs, so no kitties or small animals. She walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
I found Laney as a stray one morning while I was out running. She loves people and attention, so she came right up to me. I posted around local pages and took her in to the local lost animal shelter, but no one claimed her. Once they called me I came back to adopt her. They estimate she is about 2 years old. She still has a slot of playful puppy energy, but she's taken super quickly to learning and training. She's smart, sweet, and lively. She loves to run, swim, walk, and above all receive belly rubs. She's an amazing companion. Because she is a guard dog, she will alert when there are unknown noises at the door. She warms up to guests immediately upon greeting. She travels well and loves car rides. She would do great with an active single person or couple. I do not know how she is with kids. An ideal home would be have relatively low traffic so she can relax when she's not active. She needs both physical and mental stimulation, and is a happy dog as long as she gets both.
