DOB: 11/29/2021 Breed: German Shepherd mix -Spayed female 43lbs-Microchipped & fully vaccinated-Negative for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, and on a monthly preventative*Adoption Fee $350*A little bit about me… Pleased to meet you, I’m Mileena! Fierce in name, tender at heart. In the Mortal Kombat realm, I’d be known for my power moves, but here in the real world, my strength is in love and loyalty. I’m a very sweet girl with a gentle soul, though I battle with a different kind of fight: anxiety. I don’t like being left alone. My heart yearns for human comfort and connection, and my ideal forever home will have someone by my side most of the time. I walk like a proper lady on a leash, but I’m still training to keep my excitement in check when I see my favorite people. I came here with my bestie Kitana, and while I love playing with her, what I crave most is the warmth and reassurance of humans. If you’re looking for a companion who will stick by you through every round of life’s battles, I’m ready to join your team! The highlights…-Sweet demeanor-Very anxious -I do not like being left alone-Great walking buddyKey points to know…-Patience is Non-negotiable: An anxious dog will need extra time to adjust . Progress may come in small steps, so consistency, calm reassurance, and celebrating little wins are important.-Alone time requires training: Anxious dogs often struggle with separation, so gradual desensitization, interactive toys, and sometimes professional guidance will be needed to help them cope.-Routine is Comforting: A predictable schedule for meals, walks, and downtime helps reduce anxiety and builds trust, making them feel more secure in their new home.

They call me Kitana, but don’t worry, my battles these days are all about winning hearts, not tournaments. I may carry the name of a fierce warrior, but in reality, I’m a gentle soul with a loving spirit. My favorite area? Long walks with my human, where I’m the perfect partner by your side. I came here with my bestie Mileena, and while we enjoy play time together, I’m also just as happy to chill and match your energy, whether that means lounging on the couch or joining you for a stroll. What I truly thrive on, is companionship. My finishing move? Endless loyalty and cuddles. All I need now is a forever home where I can be your sidekick in this adventure called life! The highlights…-Very sweet demeanor-I keep my kennel tidy -Dog selective-Great walking buddyKey points to know…-Exercise & Mental Stimulation- This mix usually has high energy and strong working instincts. They’ll thrive with daily walks, play time, and puzzle toys to keep both their mind and body engaged.-Loyal but Protective- German Shepherd traits often bring natural protectiveness, while Labs add friendliness. They may be watchful around strangers but deeply loyal and affectionate once they bond.-Training & Consistency- Smart and eager to please, this mix benefits from clear rules, positive reinforcement, and structure. They make excellent companions and family dogs.

Story
Meet Gia the gorgeous 4 y/o shepherd! There is a whole lot of love in her 50-lb body. Gia is a happy, wiggly girl who loves to play with toys and give hugs and kisses. She is very friendly meeting new people and adores attention. Gia gets extra happy and affectionate around children and would love a forever home with kids. She is also a great walking/hiking buddy with excellent leash manners. Gia must be the only pet in the household. She is a very smart girl and looking for a family who will stimulate her and love her for the rest of her years.  Gia’s adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, and microchip. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  December 16, 2025, 10:12 am
