Story
Meet Opal! Opal is a beautiful tricolored puppy with a confident personality and plenty of charm. Like her brother, she has big paws that suggest she'll grow into a medium-to-large-sized dog. This smart girl is already showing off her adventurous side. Opal has discovered that she can climb onto the top of her crate, earning herself the title of resident escape artist. Fortunately, her motivation isn't mischief-she simply wants to be closer to her people. Opal is the more confident and dominant of the sibling pair, always ready to explore and take the lead. She loves toys, enjoys treats, and is a great eater. Opal is highly food-motivated, which should make training both fun and productive. Although she hasn't had many opportunities to get out and about due to her age and vaccination schedule, she impressed everyone at her adoption event by being calm, quiet, and well-behaved. Opal combines confidence with a sweet nature, making her a wonderful family companion. She would love a home where she can continue learning, playing, and sharing her affection with her people. Because of her expected size, a family with older children would likely be an excellent match. **adopters must be able to pick up in Niagara Falls, NY** Crate size recommended: 36" now but will probably require a 42" when grown Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: has not been cat tested House trained: work in progress Crate trained: yes Energy level: moderate Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: not much Flight risk: no; however, all dogs should be considered flight risks in new environments Food aggressive: no Current food: Purina One Puppy Walks on leash: work in progress Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in car: rides well in a crate in a car Destructive: they are puppies, so they can be chewers and curious about all things Needs a home with a yard: would be preferred Needs a home with another dog: she would love a buddy, but not required Can live in an apartment: no Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
Koda is a handsome, approximately four-year-old Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix who came to us as an unclaimed stray. When he first arrived, this big boy was understandably nervous and unsure of his new surroundings. But with a little time, patience, and some familiar faces, Koda has really started to come out of his shell! These days, Koda is much more comfortable and is happily enjoying the food and attention offered to him. One of the best ways to see his sweet personality is to watch him greet a familiar staff member. As soon as someone he knows walks into his kennel, Koda pops right up with a big, happy tail wag and bright, eager eyes. As he has become more comfortable with staff, Koda has proven himself to be a pleasant, calm, and easy-going dog who is enjoyable to handle. He also appears to genuinely enjoy the company of other dogs and has shown appropriate behaviour during his interactions with them. With proper introductions, we believe Koda could potentially live happily with another dog. Koda's Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd heritage means he comes from two working breeds. He will thrive in a home that understands the importance of providing daily physical exercise as well as plenty of mental stimulation. He would love a family who can give him opportunities to explore, learn, and use his clever mind. He's also much happier when he's outside, where he can stretch his legs and take in the world around him. Because of his calm and gentle temperament, we believe Koda could potentially live with dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a large dog. Koda may have started his journey with us as a nervous stray, but he's showing us more of his wonderful personality every day. He's a sweet, easy-going guy who is looking for a patient family willing to give him the time, guidance, exercise, and love he deserves. If you're looking for a big-hearted companion with a big wag and an even bigger personality, Koda might just be your guy! Please complete an adoption request: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Koda has an appointment to be neutered on September 3rd. He is looking for a foster-to-adopt home between now and his surgery. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
