Story
We adopted Princess when she was about 5 years old, around 2007 or 2008. She was doing amazingly well until we brought home a second cat, a kitten, in 2021. By 2023, during our second year with the new kitten, Princess began occasionally pooping outside her litter box. This behavior was random at first. Last year, we got a puppy for our 6-year-old daughter, who has always wanted one, and that’s when the issues escalated. Princess stopped using the litter box altogether. We have tried everything we could think of to help her. We increased the number of litter boxes, cleaned them twice a day, and kept the puppy mostly in his crate to minimize disturbances. Despite our efforts, she still refuses to use the litter box. We believe it would be best for her to live in a home without any other pets, as we think this is the main reason for her refusal to use it.
