Story
A delivery driver stopped by with a box. It wasn't a normal delivery. Inside the box was emaciated, very scared puppies that he had found.😏 That was Comet's start in life. But he's putting that rough start behind him!😁 He loves playing, running, and talking. 🥰 He's already walking on-leash & doing great!👟👟🐾🐾👏👏👏 This is Comet! Isn't he out of this world? He's all set for take-off, looking to land in his very own caring, forever loving home!🕵 Please feel free to contact shelter if you would like more information on adopting.👍 See the latest on all the ODCHS adoptables on our Facebook page: Ozark-Dale County Humane Society

Story
🐾 Meet Curtis! 🐾 Curtis is a 9-week-old Black Mouth Cur / Pittie mix weighing 9.4 pounds of pure puppy energy and sweetness. He’s the perfect blend of cuddles and chaos — one minute snuggled up, the next zooming around like the rambunctious baby he is. We anticipate Curtis will grow to be around 45–50 lbs when fully grown. One of Curtis’s cutest features is watching his short little legs try to keep up with his chunky puppy body — especially when he realizes the stairs are just too much and needs a little help. It’s impossible not to smile. Like most puppies his age, Curtis believes everything is a chew toy and is actively learning that hands and feet are not for biting. He’s responding well to redirection with Benebones and toys and is starting to understand the word “no.” This food- and toy-motivated boy has already begun learning basic skills like sitting, taking treats gently, and getting comfortable with crate time. He did wonderfully crated during his vet visit and is doing well using puppy pads while continuing house-training. Curtis is very dog-friendly — even with dogs who may not fully appreciate his enthusiasm. Because he’s still learning social cues, he would do best with younger or tolerant dogs who can safely handle his playful style. He is well socialized with dogs and would love a home with respectful kids. Due to his sharp puppy teeth, supervision is important while he continues learning good manners. He hasn’t started leash training yet — that will come with time. Curtis rides well in the car, loves adventures, and has an energy level best described as rambunctious. His favorite things include Benebones and his lamb stuffy. 🏡 Ideal Home: Curtis would thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not and committed to continuing puppy training. A physically fenced yard is required so he has a safe place to burn off puppy energy. Patience, consistency, and structure will go a long way — and the payoff is a loyal, affectionate companion. If you’re ready for puppy kisses, playful chaos, and a whole lot of love, Curtis may be the perfect addition to your family. 🐶❤️ 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: 👉 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please note: The dog you’re applying for might already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network. Don’t worry though — we’re always happy to help you find another great match if that happens! Adoption Requirements: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. Current dogs must have Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. Consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention is required for both current and past dogs listed on applications.

Story
Meet Butch — The Grumbling Gentleman with a Sense of Humor 🐾 Butch doesn’t bark. He mumbles. And it’s glorious. This 4-year-old goofball has fully embraced his role as our beloved office dog, keeping things tidy, staying out of trouble, and grumbling dramatically when he wants a butt scratch or a snack. (Yes — we all stop what we’re doing when Butch starts “talking.”) Laid back, hilarious, and deeply loyal, Butch is looking for a home as chill as he is. He does not enjoy dogs who are rowdy, bouncy, or puppy-like — but give him a calm, quiet companion (or let him be your one and only), and he’s golden. 🛋️ Couch potato energy 😂 Comedic timing on point 🚫 No wild pups, please 🏠 Tidy, respectful, and an A+ roommate If you want a dog who’ll make you laugh, keep you company, and act like a grumbly old man in the best way possible — Butch is your guy.
