Meet Strudel ✨🐾 Name: Strudel Age: 2 years Weight: 46 lbs Breed: Treeing Tennessee Brindle mix (a Cur-type breed) 🌟 Personality Snapshot Strudel is an outgoing, joyful, people-loving guy who believes everyone is a friend he just hasn’t met yet. He thrives on playtime, family time, and being included in daily life. If something is happening, Strudel would like a front-row seat. 👀🐶 One of his best traits is how well he mirrors his environment — calm house? He relaxes. Playtime energy? He’s ready to go. 😄 Cute Quirk Strudel is endlessly curious and always wants to know what’s going on. Yard activity, kitchen happenings, or anything remotely interesting — he’s invested. ⚠️ Not-So-Great Habits (Transparency Matters) When excited, Strudel can be mouthy — he does not hurt, but he will gently grab hands and lick them. He also jumps up when excited, mostly to see what’s happening (especially around the kitchen island). This is actively being worked on and improving with consistency. Because of this, very small children may not be the best fit. Active adults, teens, or steady seniors would do just fine. 🎓 Training & Manners Strudel is smart, eager, and very food motivated — which makes training enjoyable. ✔️ Sit ✔️ Waits his turn for treats ✔️ House trained & dog door trained ✔️ Crate trained ✔️ Comes when called (unless he’s deep into playtime) ✔️ Does not counter surf ✔️ Runs to the door but stops when told 🚗 Car rides have improved greatly — he now hops right in and is ready to go. 🍪 Motivation Level ⭐ Highly food motivated Treats and mealtime are his love language. 🐕 Social Skills ✔️ Dog friendly ✔️ People friendly He would love a dog friend, but it’s not required. ❤️ Favorite Things 🦴 Benebones 🎾 Playing 🚶 Walkies 🍽️ Mealtime 🛋️ Couch time with people, dogs, or both 🏡 Ideal Home Strudel would thrive in any home that offers attention, interaction, and regular walks. A securely fenced yard is strongly recommended, as he can get distracted by activity or critters. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention. Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention. Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Mercy is a one-year-old female Black Mouth Cur, about 60 lbs.  She came to us when her owner was unable to keep her.  She is an incredibly sweet lady, great with other dogs, very loving and also playful.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe.
