Story
Meet Tank, a charming boy with a heart full of love and a mind full of curiosity. He's got a sweet and friendly nature that makes him a joy to be around. Tank's goofy antics are sure to keep you entertained. His playful and fun-loving spirit is infectious, and he's always up for a walk in the woods or a romp in the park. Tank's combination of smarts, sweetness, and silliness make him a unique companion. Adopting Tank means opening your home to laughter, constant companionship, and unconditional love. He has had a rough time in life, living on the streets then being picked up by someone who kept him for a while only to decide she really didn't want another dog. She took him to the vet for euthanasia. Our vet had pity and decided to give Tank another chance. He was treated for heartworms, vaccinated and neutered while in their care. Please, give Tank a chance to show you just how special he is.

Story
Welcome Petey to CCPAL Foster Program. He is a 6-month old Lab/Black Mouth Cur puppy. He weighs about 45 pounds and is a wonderful puppy. His foster mom has enrolled him in doggy daycare and he is wonderful in daycare. He gets along great with other dogs. He is in foster care with cats and all his time around them is supervised. He has done fine with the cats. He is also a part of a training group and works to learn the basic commands. He is potty trained, good on a leash, doesn’t jump up, knows sit and is good in a crate. This puppy is very well rounded. He naturally bonds deep to his family and may be protective of his family. He is very very friendly to strangers and takes direction easily and well. He has a great attention span. He will make some lucky family a great companion. He would be best with a more active family over a couch potato type. He would be great with another dog or he could go as an only pup. He does love play time with other dogs. He would be a great pup with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. This sweet girl is Jolean, She is very loving to everyone - vocal in her kennel - would thrive in a home with other dogs. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are currently open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday, and have Open Hours on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.  Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment.  To find the best match for each pet, we prefer to have the entire family present when doing an adoption. If you have a dog at home already, please be prepared to bring your resident dog to meet a potential new dog, to ensure all parties get along. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
