Story
Beau is ready to be adopted! He’s a 2 year old, 90lb bloodhound. He’s big, squishy, and beautiful. Beau has a lot of love to give, and needs someone who understands him. He’s a big love bug who wants to hang out, get his big ol noggin scratched, and his face rolls squished. He’s always down for a nap and he’s a great snuggler. He also has a strong sense of boundaries and grumbles to communicate if he's not in the mood to share his personal space. He would do best with other laid back, confident dogs that will respect him. He loves to run around outside and play chase with other dogs once he gets to know them. Enjoys a game of tug every now and then when he’s feeling froggy. He was tested with cats and didn’t do well, so a home without them is required. He is, however, great with children. Beau has learned leash manners, obedience, and he’s working on tolerant handling of his feet and ears. He is also house trained. He can be crated and kenneled, but does well with more space rather than less. Like all dogs who are a part of our rescue, Beau is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and he is also heartworm negative. These 29 dogs were rescued by Big Dog Ranch from another rescue in North Alabama after the owner was hospitalized, leaving the dogs in urgent need of help. When our team arrived and saw the conditions they were living in, we knew we had to act immediately. With a dedicated group of staff and volunteers, it took nearly seven hours to safely catch and secure each dog. Many were scared, yet incredibly sweet and innocent—confused about what was happening but never aggressive, just unsure and overwhelmed. Now, at Big Dog Ranch, they are finally safe. They are receiving much-needed medical care, nutritious meals, and plenty of love and patience. Some are learning how to walk on a leash for the very first time, while others are slowly learning to trust our K9 care staff—discovering that gentle pets, kind voices, and warm hugs can be a good thing. In time, these amazing dogs will be ready to begin the next chapter of their lives in forever homes, where they can give back the love and joy they have been waiting so long to share.
