Story
Hi I'm Penny! I just know what you're thinking - I'm the cutest puppy you've ever seen! I'm pint size now, but they tell me I'm going to grow up to be a perfect size 'medium'. Well, as cute as I am, I'm also friendly, smart and playful. I'm the total package! I'm about 12 weeks old now, just beginning to learn the ropes on how to grow up and learn all the big dog stuff like walking on a leash and sitting. I'm at the perfect age to be a part of a family and grow up together! When I arrived at the Ark, we played the 'guess what breed I am' game, and the most guesses were that I'm a Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) mix, but I know that's just a guess - I know what I am, I'm a Purebred Mix-Breed!! **Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.

Story
Shelby is about 1 year old and is a mix of Red Heeler, Australian Shepherd, Bulldog, and American Bully. She is on the lower end of medium and weighs about 30lbs or less. She leans very heavy on the Heeler side as far as looks and behavior. Shelby came to her foster family as an owner surrender from Tennessee. She was signed over to a vet clinic due to her being hospitalized with Parvo. She has done wonderfully in her foster home but definitely comes with sassiness. Shelby is very acclimated to being around large dogs but loves to play rough. She has been trained to eat in her crate to avoid any resource guarding amongst her foster brothers and sisters. When it’s feeding time, she runs straight to her crate. Some things that Shelby loves are car rides, playing chase, chewing on pigs ears or collagen bones, and talking back when she is being naughty. Shelby does well with other dogs that are playful and energetic. She loves to herd her 80lb foster brother all around the yard. Shelby has been around children aged 8-12. She doesn’t quite know how to handle her feelings of excitement and as a result she will lightly nip which isn’t uncommon for herding dog. In the best interest of Shelby and the loving members of her forever home, she cannot be adopted to a home with small children but older children comfortable with dogs will be considered.
