Story
Meet Frito 🌽! Frito is a 2-year-old Bluetick Coonhound with a story that's still being written. Rescued from Georgia in 2024, this handsome boy is looking for a patient and understanding family that will help him continue building confidence and discovering just how wonderful life can be. Frito has a moderate energy level and enjoys having opportunities to explore, sniff, and take in the world around him. As a true hound, he's naturally curious and loves using his nose to investigate new scents. Whether it's a leisurely walk or time spent outdoors, Frito appreciates having a chance to satisfy his adventurous spirit. While Frito is incredibly sweet, he can be shy and timid when meeting new people or experiencing unfamiliar situations. He prefers to take things slow and will need time to settle into a new home and build trust with his family. Once he feels safe, his gentle personality begins to shine through, making every milestone and breakthrough especially rewarding. Frito gets along well with other dogs and may benefit from having a confident canine companion to help show him the ropes. Because of his timid nature and strong hound instincts, Frito is considered a flight risk and will require a secure environment. Frito is best suited for adopters with moderate dog experience who understand that trust takes time and that some of the most meaningful bonds are built slowly. Frito is ready to leave his past behind and start a new chapter filled with security, kindness, and forever love.

Story
Hi, I’m Gopher! 🐾 I'm an 8 year old boy who was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Northern Florida, where I was on the euthanasia list because of a broken tail. Thanks to Big Dog Ranch, I got a second chance at life—and now I’m ready for my forever home! I have moderate energy, love spending time with people, and get along well with other dogs. I also do great with older humans and know basic commands, which makes me an easygoing, sweet companion. I’m looking for a loving home where I can share my calm, friendly nature and enjoy the comfort of a family who appreciates a gentle, loyal friend. 🐶💛

Story
Dixie was adopted from Furry Friends in December 2022. She is currently 3 years old, and will be 4 on 10/03/2026. Dixie is a very sweet and loving dog, that has a lot of energetic and nervous energy. She does have a strong prey drive. Although being raised with cats and other dogs, every once in a while she will try to chase down/tackle smaller animals. It is unknown if she would be better suited as an only-dog family, as she does get jealous if attention is given to other animals in her presence. She is very good with children of all ages, and is very protective of them. She has experience at the dog beach, dog parks, and behavioral training. She can swim, but gets ear infections easily if water gets in her ears. Dixie would be the perfect fit for an active family that can play and include her in activities. Or an owner that works from home. She does not fare well being left alone for extended periods of time.
