Hi, I'm Snoopi. I'll always be around to help you out! We are one houndin' mix of pup! Our mama was a full Bluetick Coonhound and our dad was a Basset Hound. We are 8 weks old and full of life. We will be ready to go to our forever homes on 4/20, but I can be pre-adopted in the meantime.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. No need to call to find out about me, you can ask questions on the application or email questions to info@polkcountyhumanesociety.org. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Story

Dodger is 2 years old. He is an active dog who needs things to keep him "busy". He is a sweet boy but our lifestyle does not allow for us to keep him. We had rehomed him to a disabled vet who adored him and took him everywhere. He just had surgery and we were watching him and his owner was diagnosed with extensive cancer and will not be able to care for him. He is heartbroken, as are we, because Dodger had a great new life and now has to start over again.

Barnaby is approximately 7 years old now. I did a DNA test & it said he is 66.2% Treeing Walker Coonhound, 18.9% American Foxhound & 14.9% Labrador Retriever. Barnaby is a great dog because he is a sweet, kind and gentle soul with a heart full of love to give. This guy would be a perfect fit for a moderately active household. He does require some daily exercise, but he is middle aged, so he’s good to relax and chill once he’s had some play time. This handsome boy is fully vaccinated, neutered, house-trained & he also knows several tricks. He gets along well with other dogs and he absolutely adores human companionship. Age: 2 yearsWeight: 55 poundsLocation: FosterMeet Domino! She was found stray heavily pregnant and had 9 puppies February 12 in a loving foster home. When not on Mama duty, she enjoys running in the yard, playing fetch, carrying around toys in her mouth and being loved on by her foster family! She is a great family dog. She is 100% potty trained, is gentle and bonds quickly. She likes to stick close to home and enjoys a comfy couch, especially when she gets to snuggle with a family member! She needs work on jumping but is good on a leash or harness. She seems good with other dogs but has only been observed with the resident senior Chi. She has chased cats but is possibly just imitating what the other dog does . Due to her size and energy, she would be best in a home with older children. Domino is around 2 years old and weighs 55 pounds. Scrabble is a huge snuggle bug and loves to be curious! She enjoys playing with our 3 grown German Shepherds as well as other puppies. Scrabble is great her adult humans and loves kids!
