Story
Pending adoption We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs home leaving on 1/6/26 to NorCal, OR, and WA. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Holly to our trip for the right home! Holly’s story is one that stays with you long after you hear it. Born on 5/15/23, she is a beautiful Cockapoo with a soft, hypoallergenic poodle coat and the gentlest spirit. But the life she lived before coming into our rescue was anything but gentle. Holly spent her young life with a breeder who viewed her only through the lens of profit. She was bred repeatedly until her body gave out, and when she could no longer produce, she was thrown away without a thought for what she had endured. What we didn’t know until she was surrendered to us was just how much pain she had been silently carrying. Both of her back legs were severely injured. Her hip was completely dislocated. Her knee on the conjoining back legs was also dislocated and unnaturally twisted. Her knee had been breaking down from the strain of trying to survive with barely any functional mobility. She had been living this way for far too long, her suffering overlooked by those who were meant to care for her. Even so, Holly arrived with a sweetness that stopped us in our tracks — a quiet gratitude, a willingness to trust, a softness that showed just how much love she still had left to give despite everything she had been through. We moved quickly. Our orthopedic surgeon performed an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) to stabilize the weight-bearing leg. Once she began healing, she underwent another complex and specialized surgery to reconstruct her knee — a surgery that gave her not just comfort, but a true chance at a pain-free life. She has been spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, received a complete dental cleaning, and has been monitored through countless exams, x-rays, medications, and follow-up appointments over the course of many months. Every step forward was one she fought for — and one we fought right alongside her. Today, after more than $10,000 in medical care, months of recovery, and the unwavering commitment of everyone who has loved her through this journey, Holly has finally been cleared by our vet to begin looking for a forever home of her own. And she is so, so deserving. Holly moves gently and confidently now, free from the constant pain that once overshadowed her life. She enjoys soft play, leisurely walks, cozy spaces, and quiet moments with the people she trusts. She is an incredibly tender girl whose heart opens fully when she feels safe. She bonds deeply, listens beautifully, and carries herself with a calm elegance that makes you instinctively want to protect her. She does wonderfully with other gentle, respectful dogs and would thrive with a calm canine companion or as the only dog in a home that offers her softness and stability. She isn’t a dog who needs chaos, constant activity, or a busy lifestyle. She is a dog for a peaceful home — one built on love, routine, patience, and understanding. She is a companion for someone who values the emotional connection a dog can bring, someone who sees her not just for where she is now, but for what she survived to get here. Her journey has been long, emotional, and incredibly costly, but every ounce of effort has led to this moment — where she finally gets to be considered for the kind of life she should have always had. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/holly-1 Her adoption fee is placed at our highest tier, not because it reflects her worth — that could never be measured — but because it acknowledges the extraordinary medical care she required to reclaim her life. Though we have invested well over $10,000 in her surgeries and treatment, this fee simply helps us continue offering the same chance to future dogs who come to us broken, discarded, or in desperate need of intervention. We have complete medical records and receipts documenting every part of her journey. If you feel drawn to Holly… if her resilience, her grace, and her quiet strength speak to you… if you believe you are the person who can offer her a lifetime of comfort, gentleness, and unwavering love… then we would be honored to hear from you. Holly has waited her whole life to be someone’s cherished girl. Whoever she chooses will be receiving one of the most special souls to ever pass through our rescue — a dog whose heart survived what her body could not, and who is finally ready for the kind of home where she is treasured, safe, and loved beyond measure.

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs home leaving on 1/6/26 to NorCal, OR, and WA. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Belle to our trip for the right home! Belle is a gentle, thoughtful little soul with a heart that simply needs the right person to feel safe enough to fully shine. Born on 7/4/24, she weighs 12.5 lbs fully grown, a petite Bichon–Poodle mix with a soft presence and an even softer heart. Belle came from a loving family who adored her deeply, but her world was kept fairly small. Because of that, she can be cautious by nature with people she doesn’t yet know. She isn’t fearful or shut down — she just takes a moment to observe, process, and decide when it feels right to open her heart. Thankfully, that moment doesn’t take long. With a little patience and kindness, Belle blossoms into a joyful, affectionate, sweet girl who loves deeply once she knows she’s safe. Earning her trust is time well spent — her love is sincere, loyal, and incredibly rewarding. She is spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines, and had a wonderful exam with our veterinarian. Belle did show signs of mild allergies and was given a Cytopoint injection to help relieve those symptoms. She was in heat at the time of her spay, which required longer anesthesia and an in-heat spay increase, and she also received an antibiotic injection to support her recovery. She handled everything beautifully and has done very well moving forward. Belle is house trained and does great following a consistent routine. She goes outside when asked and has thrived on our structured schedule of every 3–4 hours, which we strongly recommend continuing in her next home. She is crate trained and currently sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, though she would likely transition easily to a bed beside her person — or even in bed — as she is happiest being close to those she loves. She is leash trained and truly enjoys her walks, especially trips to the park or playground. Belle is a total people-watcher and will happily sit beside you on a bench, quietly observing the world while you tell her all about it. She loves being present in life and taking it all in — she just needs someone kind and confident to lead the way and show her that the world isn’t as scary as it sometimes feels. Belle is wonderful with other dogs and loves to play. If you have a sweet canine companion for her to join, she would happily step into the role of sister. That said, being the center of attention as a solo pup would suit her just fine too — she wears the title of princess very naturally. She does well at the groomer, though she benefits from a patient, gentle groomer who understands that trust takes time. Grooming tools can feel a bit intimidating until she knows she’s safe, but once she’s all dolled up and back home, she prances, dances, and clearly knows she looks adorable. Belle loves snuggles, gives the sweetest kisses, and is especially motivated by treats — with a clear soft spot for strawberries and watermelon. She also travels beautifully and is great on road trips of any length. Belle is a true companion — one who will grow alongside her person, gaining confidence with encouragement, consistency, and love. She doesn’t need perfection, just someone willing to move at her pace and let her heart bloom. Her Adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/belle-1 Belle’s adoption fee covers her spay (including in-heat spay costs), vaccines, microchip and registration, veterinary care, allergy treatment, antibiotic injection, as well as the months of care, training, and grooming she has received while with us.
