Story
Isabeau is a 14-year-young Papillon with a gentle soul, a prancing strut, and plenty of pep left in her step. She came into rescue after her beloved mom passed away, and she’s now looking for a soft place to land where she can be cherished for her golden years. Izzy is a true companion dog, she loves to follow her person from room to room and be close to you at all times. She doesn’t jump but will whine to let you know she’d like to be picked up. She’s not a fan of stairs and prefers to be carried outside, but she is potty pad trained and does great with that setup. She’s not into crates but does just fine relaxing on her bed when left unattended, especially if it’s a cozy bed with raised sides or a spot where she can keep her head elevated. Izzy gets along well with other dogs and likes to snuggle up with others to nap. Mealtime is one of her favorite events of the day, and she’ll proudly bark to remind you it’s time to eat. Izzy only has a few teeth, so she enjoys wet food served on a paper plate or dry kibble sprinkled with water. Her bark, and occasional cough, sounds a bit like a duck due to a collapsed trachea, which is common in small senior dogs and something her future family should be aware of. Despite her age, Izzy still loves to prance around the house and show off her sweet little personality. She’s affectionate, endearing, and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, low-key best friend. If you’re ready to open your heart to a senior who will adore you endlessly, Izzy is your girl. Izzy will come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $125. Apply to adopt Izzy today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
Pet Location: Foster Home – please call 816-986-4426 – I`d love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me! - I am from a puppy mill/hoarding situation. I will likely need extra time to adjust to home life. I have lived with other dogs but have not socialized with people. Things like walking on a leash and going through doorways can be challenging for me. Adopting me will be extremely rewarding, but I need time to learn. - I am enrolled in Confidence College. This is a program for dogs to build confidence and learn that the world is not so scary. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs. - My foster home says I am crate trained and house trained!- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are:- I must go to a home that already has another confident dog to help build my confidence. - A fenced yard is a must for me! I do not know how to walk on a leash, so I need a secure area to go out for potty breaks. - I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises. - If you have kids in the home between 6-9 years old, I will need to meet them since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises. - New people and things make me a little nervous. Wayside recommends that I have a low traffic home.- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.- For my safety, I need to go home with you in a travel crate in the car. You can bring one with you, or we have ones for sale in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.Hi there, I’m Hazel! I’m sweet, smart, gentle, and a cuddly lovebug, once I get to know you. I’m shy and timid, too, and everything about life is new and strange to me. I’m still figuring out what it means to just be a dog. Still, I’m resilient and I’m a survivor, so I’m getting there, but these things just take time and patience. I hope maybe you’d like to join me on my journey. You can help me celebrate as I learn and grow and blossom into the dog that I was always meant to be. I’d like to have you by my side. That sounds nice.
