Story
Cherry's Story Cherry's story before coming to us is a mystery. She was found wandering alone in a park, with no one looking for her and no indication of where she came from. While we may never know her past, it was clear she had not been well cared for. She arrived missing patches of fur, covered in scrapes and scars, and was later diagnosed with mange caused by mites. Many of her scars were likely the result of encounters with other dogs. What was even more heartbreaking was how frightened she was. When Cherry first arrived, she was so scared of people that she would urinate when approached. But even through her fear, she showed us how brave she is. She really wanted to make friends she just didn't know how to trust yet. Since then, Cherry has made incredible progress. Her body is healing, her confidence is growing, and every day she becomes a little more comfortable with the people around her. She absolutely loves cuddles and pets, and she greets her favorite people with joyful zoomies. While Cherry has shown us she can be uncertain in new places, she flourishes in areas that she is now comfortable in. She went from hiding in the bushes in our dog yards to now getting zoomies and relentlessly playing ball. Training & Support Cherry is still learning that the world is a safe place. She will need a patient adopter who can continue helping her build confidence through positive experiences and gentle encouragement. Socialization will be important, but it needs to happen at Cherry's pace. She responds best to kindness, routine, and lots of positive reinforcement. With time and patience, Cherry continues to show just how much she can grow. Ideal Home Cherry would thrive in a quiet, calm home with a predictable routine. She would do best without young children, as loud noises and sudden activity can be overwhelming for her. While she has done well with some dogs, we feel she would be most successful starting out as the only pet while she settles into her new home. In the future, she may be able to live with another dog with proper introductions. But for now she needs time to learn dogs are ok and work on socializing with them in a positive manner. A ground-floor home or apartment would be ideal, as we don't yet know how she would handle elevators or busy apartment hallways. Cherry may be able to live with a dog experienced cat, she didn't have much of a reaction to a kitty during her testing and was very gentle when nose to nose with a rabbit at the shelter. Most of all, Cherry is looking for a family willing to give her the time, patience, and love she needs to continue blossoming into the happy, confident dog we know she can be. If you're looking for a sweet, resilient dog and would love to be part of her journey, Cherry might just be the perfect match. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? Story
** Choice is currently in Korea but she will be arriving in Vancouver on Jaune 8 once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.BackgroundDuring the hot summer of 2024, Choice was rescued from a situation of neglect. She had been tied to a pole and left under the intense sun with no shade, food, or water at a local factory in Paju, Korea. She was kept as a guard dog for a factory building, but sadly received no proper care. It took time and effort to convince the owner to surrender her, but eventually they agreed, and Choice was finally rescued. After her rescue, she spent over a year in a local shelter, waiting patiently for a family of her own. As a mixed breed dog, she unfortunately did not receive many adoption opportunities. She was later moved to our partner boarding house where she lived with other dogs. Her sister has already found her forever home in Victoria, Canada, and now it is time for Choice to find hers.Personality and SocializationChoice has a wonderful temperament. She is social, gentle, and easygoing, with a balanced medium energy level. She gets along well with other dogs, especially those who are friendly and polite. If another dog is too pushy or dominant, she will calmly walk away rather than engage in conflict. She is naturally submissive, peaceful, and very loving. With people, Choice is gentle, sweet, and affectionate. She warms up quickly and is not shy about showing her trust, often rolling over to show her belly. Even with men or new strangers, it does not take her long to feel comfortable and friendly.BehaviourChoice is an intelligent and adaptable girl who learns new routines quickly. She has been very easy to handle in daily life. She becomes a bit nervous in the car, but is comfortable with vet visits, baths, and grooming, and allows her caregivers to handle her without resistance. She walks nicely on a leash and enjoys her walks, but will get a bit nervous in a new environment. She has not shown signs of separation anxiety and is generally quiet and well behaved. She is truly a lovely and easy companion.Health and DietChoice is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and kept up to date with monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry kibble twice a day and has shown no signs of food related allergies. She is healthy and ready for her foreve home.Ideal HomeChoice would be a wonderful fit for many types of homes, including first time dog guardians. We are hoping for a family who will not leave her alone for long hours and who enjoys spending time with their dog. She is already a loving, social, and well balanced companion. Truly, anyone who adopts Choice will be very lucky to have her in their life.** Choice is currently in Korea but she will be arriving in Vancouver on Jaune 8 once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.

*Note: Winnie is currently in Korea but he will be arriving in Vancouver once he is adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.BackgroundWinnie was rescued in April 2023 from a breeding facility in Boryeong, South Korea. After his rescue, he stayed at a dog training center because there was no space available at our partner boarding house. This spring, we finally had space to bring him back to our partner boarding house. Now, it is his turn to find the loving forever home he has been waiting for.Personality and SocializationWinnie is a cheerful, people-loving dog with a lot of affection to give. He is comfortable with both men and women right away, with no shyness around strangers. He is a very happy and playful boy who loves greeting everyone he meets. He is the kind of dog who gets excited to see people and always makes his happiness known. With other dogs, Winnie is social and gets along with most. He does best with dogs who can match his energy and enjoy play. Dogs that are rude or overly chaotic are not his preference, and he will let them know. His ideal playmate is one who loves to run and play alongside him. Winnie has no known experience with cats.BehavioursWinnie is well practiced in daily routines. He travels well in the car, handles vet visits calmly, and has no trouble with baths. He has good experience with leash walking. He prefers to do his business outdoors. He has not shown signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviours.Health and DietWinnie is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on his vaccinations. He also receives monthly parasite prevention. When he was rescued, he was diagnosed with heartworm, but he completed his treatment successfully and has no medical history that requires ongoing follow up care.He eats kibble twice a day and, so far, has not shown any allergies.Ideal HomeWinnie would be happiest with a family that enjoys spending lots of time with their dog, especially going outdoors and doing activities together. He would also love having a playful dog sibling to run around and snuggle with. A home with someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal for Winnie. He would do best in a house rather than a busy downtown condo environment. Winnie is a very loving and affectionate boy. Whoever welcomes this sweet boy into their family will be very lucky.*Note: Winnie is currently in Korea but he will be arriving in Vancouver once he is adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please click here.

Story
Hi! My name is Cookie 🍪🤍 I’m a 1-year-old female Border Collie mix, about 15kg — a lovable medium-sized girl with a bright spirit and an even brighter heart. When I was still very young, I was placed on a euthanasia list. But someone chose not to give up on me. I was rescued and spent a month at a training center for evaluation — and the result was summed up in one word: “Perfect.” ✨ Now I’m living safely in a foster home, waiting for my forever family. My biggest charm? My social skills! I get along beautifully with other dogs, especially smaller ones. I’m playful and energetic, but also thoughtful — I actually prefer playing with dogs smaller than me and adjust my energy to match theirs. I don’t just play… I play kindly. 🐶💕 I love running, playing, and burning off my energy with friends. I prefer pottying outdoors, and after a good play session, I’m happy and satisfied. If you already have a dog at home, I think we could be the perfect team! When I first meet new people, I might look a tiny bit shy. But don’t worry — it doesn’t take long for me to warm up. I’ll gently approach, open my heart, and show you my sweet, affectionate side. I have a quiet kind of charm that sneaks up on you. 🤍 Because I’m still young, I’m happiest when I’m not alone. I truly thrive when I have a dog friend to run and play with. A life where I can share my days — that’s the life that fits me best. My second chance at life saved me. Now I’m hoping for a life where I’m never alone again. A home filled with warmth, family, and maybe even a furry best friend. Will you be my forever family? 🐾💕

Story
Hi, I’m Misty 💛 I’m a 3-year-old girl, a Border Collie–Samoyed mix, and I weigh about 17kg. People often notice my soft, fluffy coat first… but my favorite little charm? One of my ears folds slightly—it’s my special signature look 😊 I was rescued from a shelter where my time was almost up, but you wouldn’t know it if you met me. I’m bright, happy, and full of love. I really love people. Even if we’ve just met, I’ll come right up to you like we’ve known each other forever. I love attention, I love affection, and I love sharing little moments together. I’m also great with other dogs! I get along well with my furry friends and don’t like conflict—I’d much rather play and enjoy good company. If you like going on walks or playing together, I’ll be so happy. And after we’ve had our fun? I’m just as happy to rest quietly by your side. I have a nice balance of energy—I can be active, but I also know how to relax at home. I’m still learning what it means to live in a home. Things like potty habits and house rules might be new to me, but I’m a smart girl (that Border Collie side of me helps!), and I learn quickly when someone is patient and consistent with me. I don’t need perfection. I don’t need everything to be ready from the start. I just need someone who will understand me, teach me gently, and stay by my side as I learn. Because I’m already ready to love you. All I’m waiting for… is a family who will love me back, and give me a place to finally belong. Will you be family? 💛

Story
Hi, my name is McCall 🖤🤍 I’m a 2-year-old Border Collie boy weighing 18kg, and most people notice my eyes first. One shines bright blue, and the other is deep and dark — my special odd eyes make everyone look twice. But I hope one day, when you look at me, you’ll see more than just my appearance. I hope you’ll see my heart, too. Before rescue, my life was not very kind. I spent a long time tied to a short leash, without the freedom to run, play, or simply be a happy young dog. I didn’t receive the love and care every dog deserves. But somehow, even after everything, I still love people very much. Being with humans is my favorite thing in the world. I love when people play with me, talk to me, and spend time with me. Throw a ball for me, run around with me, or simply laugh with me, and you’ll see my whole face light up. I don’t just want toys or treats — I want connection. I watch people closely, respond to their emotions, and get so excited when someone gives me attention and love. I also enjoy making dog friends and playing with them. I’m naturally social, cheerful, and friendly, so I usually fit in well wherever I go. Because I’m a Border Collie, I’m a very smart boy. I learn quickly, notice patterns fast, and pay close attention to people and my surroundings. I’m happiest when I can use both my body and my brain. Training, games, learning routines, and communicating with my family are things that truly make me feel fulfilled. But I should be honest with you too — I have a lot of energy! I’m still young, and I love to run, explore, and stay active. A short walk alone probably won’t be enough for me. I dream of a family who enjoys adventures, outdoor time, play sessions, and teaching me new things. If you love spending time with your dog instead of simply having a dog beside you, we might be perfect for each other. There’s something important you should know: I’ve never really experienced normal family life before. Living inside a home, learning routines, waiting calmly alone, understanding house manners — these are all new things for me. Sometimes I may get excited, curious, or make little mistakes while I learn. But I promise I’m trying my best. I’m not a “difficult” dog. I’m simply a dog who is finally getting the chance to learn what love and family feel like. With patience, guidance, and kindness, I know I can become an incredible companion. Once, I could only watch the world from the end of a short chain. Now, I’m waiting for the chance to run freely, feel safe, and belong to someone forever. Maybe my odd eyes are special… but what I really hope you’ll love is my warm heart, my happy spirit, and how much I want to share my life with you. I’ll be waiting for my forever family. Maybe it’s you. 🖤🤍
