Story
Handsome 22-lb. Buddy has the tricolor pattern common to rat terriers, but his coat length, personality, and overall behavior say that he's predominantly a herding dog/border collie. Since coming to New Rattitude about 2 years ago, the almost 4-year-old has been on a journey of self-improvement. How? His foster home has provided a consistent positive environment that focuses on routines and respect for Buddy's natural  inclinations, e.g. his need to have a job.  Buddy is always ready to 'help.'  He's wired to take his 'job' seriously and needs to work a few times each day. Buddy's favorite job is playing ball, and although he's not that good at it, he thrives on the process and interaction with his human. A second job is attempting to herd the other dogs in his foster home away from 'his' people. He's a little bigger than the other dogs and actually seems to enjoy them, but they don't appreciate Buddy's nose prodding them. Because he would rather be the sole focus of his people's attention, Buddy would do best as an only dog. While he hasn't been around cats, his herding instincts would probably annoy them too. Buddy has a side gig as a home security guard. He stays alert and uses his nose to keep abreast of what's happening. He's a homebody, who enjoys running on his own turf in a large, securely fenced area. A quiet rural area is ideal; city life would be too stimulating. A dog door permits Buddy to patrol as needed and to stay impeccably house-trained. Of course, holding down multiple jobs requires good sleep. Buddy actually asks to go to bed and sleeps in his crate every night without a peep.  In his past, Buddy received forceful training and correction, and he reacted by biting a person. He'll need 1-2 adults (no children) who are skilled at using positive reinforcement to guide him. He would benefit from more training to use an indoor voice and not jump on people. If you want a working dog who only asks to be paid with love, Buddy is perfect for the job. See more pictures of Buddy at  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/buddy .Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old. Story
My breed is called an Idaho Shag, which is a special cow dog mix that includes Border Collie, Airedale. My owners life changed and so they couldn't keep me. While its hard, it's not changed my mind that life is great and the next adventure will be even better than the one I just had. I am a smart boy. I know sit, down, bang and release. Since I know how to learn, the sky is the limit on what I can be taught. I'm still just a puppy so we can learn together!

Story
My name is Freda. While I’m still gaining confidence I am a kind girl who is gentle spirited. I am eager to learn and just want to please people. And when I gazed lovingly at you, you can see that. I love treats, and chin scratches and KIDS. I LOVE kids! I am learning to walk on a leash but still need help understanding no on is going to hurt me. I hunker down because I can't help it. I just need someone to show me things are all right. I am uncertain around other pets so it would be best if I was an only dog. Note: Freda qualifies for a shelter discount due to her age of seven years old. She will be spayed before adoption.
