You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ellie came to us from the city pound on 8/2/2026. We did learn a little bit about her from her former owner, who no longer care for her. Ellie is her real name and she's around a year and a few months old. She is a standard poodle mix and was described by her former owner as a labradoodle, but we aren't sure if that is entirely accurate. She looks to maybe be mixed with border collie or Australian shepherd. She has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped, and the vet staff also shaved her down before her surgery because she arrived with a very matted coat. Her fee is $150. Ellie will need definitely need basic training in all areas, but she's still an exuberant and friendly girl. She's young, very active, and incredibly bouncy, so she will require plenty of exercise. It would be helpful if her new home has experience with dogs similar to her because of their high grooming needs. A potential adopter should be prepared for the extra work and expense of this. Ellie should do well with other dogs that match her in size and energy level. Her enthusiasm might be too much for cats. She would do better with kids over 8 because she is so energetic and needs training. She is an incredibly loving girl who has a lot of potential! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lex is an approximately 2 year old mystery mixed breed who arrived from the city pound on 7/5/2025. This great boy has now been at MCHS for a year. We're still not sure which breeds are in his genetic makeup, but there could be some kind of shepherd and other herding breeds, like border collie. He has been fully vetted and microchipped and his fee is $150. Lex is a little bit shy at first but becomes a total lovebug within a few minutes. Even though he is an adult, he is playful and has the energy of a young puppy. He will need some basic training but seems very ready and willing to please. Lex will need a lot of exercise to keep him happy and well balanced. We're thinking he would do best as the only dog in the home, at least until he gets some good training under his belt. Smaller animals are most likely a no for him. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
