If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are truly interested in adopting any animal from PAW Animal Shelter Please, fillout an adoption application FIRST!   WE are a high intake No Kill Shelter ran by a staff of 4 and do not always have time to answer every question asked by so many. If you are a good fit for the animal you are interested in -we will call to speak with you, If we feel you are not a good fit , we will contact you about other pets that may be a good fit for your home. Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. It is never our intention to ignore a request about an adoptable animal in our facility. Sandy Brown, Director, PAW Animal Shelter 319-372-2274 ##2815519##

Story
The Survivor Litter — born brave, built for joy. Meet Bravery, Chance, Courage, Fighter, Grit, Hardy, Perseverance, Resolve, Soldier, Spirit, and Tenacity — a lively crew of heeler mix pups who have already shown the world what resilience looks like. With bright eyes, wagging tails, and hearts full of hope, they’re ready to start their next chapter. These pups are thriving — safe, warm, vaccinated, and discovering that every day brings something new to love. They’re a mix of sweetness, silliness, and steel spined charm, and they’re looking for families who will celebrate the strength and spirit behind their names. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it. Adopt a Survivor. Give them the joyful ending their story deserves. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2709441##

Story
Mya is fully house-trained, great with kids, and good with other dogs. She would be best in a home with no cats, and her crate training history is unknown. She blossoms into a deeply affectionate and loyal companion once she feels safe and comfortable. Her play style is gentle and dainty, with soft, low-key interactions and calm, easygoing energy. She loves being close to her people, enjoys peaceful walks, and is happiest when she is part of a calm, loving home. $95.00 Fee includes initial vaccines, worming, microchip with registration, and free vet health exam. This pet has been fed Country Vet Naturals, donated to us by Country Vet. Sponsor A Pet Program - Part of the adoption fee has been paid by (Miles and Caley Rogers) $5. The adoption fee is now $90. Thank you! Primary Color: Blonde Secondary Color: White Weight: 77 Age: 6yrs 5mths 1wks

Story
HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- New people and things can be scary for her, particularly men, but she recovers pretty well if you let her take things at her own pace; she warmed up to the woman in her foster home within a couple of hours, while it took almost a week for her to be comfortable with the calm, quiet man in the home - Once she has warmed up, she is a laid-back cuddle bug who loves being near her people; recently began wagging her tail in her foster home and getting the zoomies! - Will likely open up even more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Sights and sounds may startle her if they're new, loud or scary - Knows sit, down and outside; loves treats but responds especially well to praise - Has been fully potty trained in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine - Does well on a leash, but may pull occasionally, especially if she sees other dogs or people - Will likely do best in a quiet home with more mature family members- Has been doing very well with the dog in her foster home and likes snuggling up close to him; generally laid back with other dogs but does have some FOMO - if one dog gets a treat, she wants one at the exact same time; would probably do well with a like-minded dog friend who is not too pushy and is OK with her desire to snuggle (dog intro recommended)- Did well with cats in a previous home - Has the cutest underbite! The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Story
Do you like dogs more than people? Juno does too! Juno is a 1-year-old, 42-pound Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix who is happiest when he has other dogs to play with. He absolutely loves canine companionship and would thrive in a home with a friendly, playful dog who can be his buddy. Juno didn't get the start in life he deserved. He was mistreated and eventually dumped in a remote area, left to fend for himself. Because of his past, Juno is understandably cautious around people he doesn't know. However, he is very comfortable with the people he knows and sees regularly. Once he knows you, he becomes much more relaxed and happy. Juno would do best in a quiet, low-key home with one person. He would prefer a home without children. The quick, unpredictable movements of young kids are scary for him, and he needs a calm environment where he can feel safe and secure. He isn't looking for a busy household or a revolving door of visitors. He wants a peaceful home, a person he can trust, and a dog friend to keep him company. And while Juno may be a little cautious about people, he is definitely not shy about showing off his athletic abilities! This boy is energetic, agile, and loves to play. He has some seriously impressive fetching skills and would happily demonstrate them for you. He also walks well on a leash, making him a great companion for someone who enjoys getting outside with their dog. Juno is housetrained and has good house manners. He does not require a kennel and is free to roam the house when his foster mom is away. He has earned that freedom and enjoys relaxing in the comforts of home. His new home will need a physically fenced yard where he can safely run, play, explore, and show off those athletic skills. A fenced yard will give Juno the freedom to get his zoomies out, chase a ball, and enjoy some of his favorite activities safely. Juno's ideal family will understand that trust takes time. He doesn't need someone who expects him to love everyone he meets. He needs someone who will respect his boundaries, let him build relationships at his own pace, and celebrate the moments when he chooses to trust. Give Juno a peaceful home, a patient person, a canine friend, a fenced yard, and a few good games of fetch, and he has everything he needs to thrive. If your idea of a perfect dog is an athletic, playful guy who prefers dogs over people, enjoys a good game of fetch, and wants a quiet life with his favorite person, Juno might be your guy. Juno is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. If you’d like to meet Juno, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Juno you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption Fee: $300
