Story
UPDATE! Ally appears to be 1 1/2 yo border collie mix. She was found on the side of the road after having puppies previously. She is great in the house and crate. She does well on a leash and is great with other animals and kids. She loves to play with her foster siblings and chew on her toys. She is utd, hw neg (tested below detectable Levels) and spayed.  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
Meet Wes — a loyal, well-trained mix breed crossed with a big personality and an even bigger heart for his people. Wes is a 4-year-old, 38 lb mix breed who has spent his life being deeply bonded to his family and committed to his routine. He is fully house trained, reliable for an 8-hour workday, walks nicely on a leash (especially with a harness), and rides well in the car. He’s the kind of dog who settles into structure quickly and thrives when he knows what’s expected of him. With his family, Wes is friendly, affectionate, and steady. He enjoys human companionship and is comfortable in a predictable home environment. He is healthy, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. Wes does, however, need a very specific placement. He had shown escalating aggression in his previous home, particularly with a new male puppy, but was ok with the other female dog he lived with for some time. We are looking for a home where he can be the only dog and be the star of the household. For the right home, Wes will shine as a devoted companion — a dog who bonds closely, follows routine, and loves to play. Wes is looking for a home that understands confident, intelligent herding breeds and is committed to giving him clear boundaries, consistency, and the leadership he responds to best. If you’re looking for a deeply loyal partner and can offer a solo-dog home where he can finally relax and just be someone’s best friend, Wes may be exactly that dog.

Story
I need to rehome my dog Pringle. She’s a border collie mix and she’s 8 years old as of May. I’ve had her since she was a puppy and I love her dearly, but my living situation changed recently. I lost my job in December and had to leave my home in March. I’ve been staying with family in since, but their landlord doesn’t allow dogs in the house. We have a big fenced yard, a small porch, and a mud room that Pringle can access, but she can’t come all the way inside which is where she wants to be because she’s been an inside dog all her life. As much I want her to stay, I know she’s not happy here and deserves to be somewhere she can be inside with her person/people. Pringle isn’t spayed, but she is up to date on her shots. She’s on NexGard for flea/tick prevention and Interceptor Plus for heart worm prevention. She’s also house trained. She has a very sweet temperament and is gentle and calm. She’d do well with cats, other dogs, and kids.

SHE IS NOT HARD TO LOVE -- SHE JUST NEEDS YOU TO STAY -- MEET LILYSome dogs run to you.Lily watches you first. She stands back quietly, takes you in, and tries to decide if you are someone safe. Someone worth trusting. Someone who is going to stay. She has not always had the answer to that question go her way -- but she has never stopped hoping it will. That kind of quiet hope in a dog will absolutely undo you if you let it.Lily is a two-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier with a gentle spirit, the sweetest soul, and a heart full of love, she has not quite figured out how to give away yet. She is just waiting for the right person to make it safe enough to try.WHO IS LILY?Lily is soft. She is still. She is the kind of dog who does not fill a room with noise but fills it with something better -- a calm, tender presence that makes you slow down and pay attention. She is figuring out the world at her own pace and every small step forward she takes is genuinely beautiful to witness. The people here at The Haven have watched her open up little by little and we can tell you with complete certainty -- what is on the other side of that trust is something truly special.FUN SIDE• Lily enjoys the simple and the peaceful -- a soft bed, a quiet yard, a calm, unhurried day• She loves exploring at her own pace without pressure or chaos• A gentle walk, a sunny spot to rest, a familiar routine -- these are the things that make Lily feel alive and happy• She does not need constant activity -- she needs consistency and safety and those two things will bring out her best every time• Watch her confidence grow day by day and you will understand why patience is always worth itSWEET SIDE• Once Lily trusts you she gives you everything -- fully, completely, and without reservation• She forms deep meaningful bonds that do not waver -- her loyalty is the kind that lasts a lifetime• She is incredibly affectionate with her person once she feels secure -- gentle, close, and quietly devoted• She will do best as the only pet in a calm one person or adult only home where she can feel fully safe and completely understood• Her love is not loud -- but it is unshakeable and it is worth every single moment of patience it takes to earn itHER PERFECT DAY• A slow gentle morning walk with no rush and no pressure• Time in a peaceful yard exploring at her own pace

Story
Meet Palmer Palmer is a handsome ~2½-year-old Border Collie mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever home while he heals from a significant abrasion to his foot, but true to his breed and his resilient spirit, Palmer is ready for a lifetime of the perfect companion. Palmer is happiest while doing what he does best — being active, fetching balls, playing with toys and engaging with his people. He’s smart, athletic, and happiest when he has room to move and a purpose to focus on.? Palmer is house trained and has mastered the “sit” and “wait” commands, proudly showing off his ability to listen and obey when given the positive reinforcement and encouragement he needs to be successful. He loves leash walks, but sometimes his exuberance can be a bit overwhelming but we are sure that with consistency and regular walks, he will learn to be a perfect walking companion. He’s an intelligent dog who thrives with loving, consistent discipline and clear guidance.Palmer would do best in an adult-only household that understands the needs of a driven, intelligent dog and is excited to include him as part of their daily routine. With the right structure, exercise, and affection, Palmer will be a loyal companion, adventure buddy, and devoted best friend.IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATIONThe dog you are considering is located in South Mississippi, with transport available (for an additional fee) to approved adopters in the Northeast. Virtual meet-and-greets are performed prior to adoption.Completing an application is the only way to receive a response from our small rescue team.Submitting an application does NOT commit you to adoption—it simply begins the conversation about whether this dog is the right fit for your family._______________________________________________________________________Apply here: www.animalaidms.org/adopt_______________________________________________________________________If your application is approved and you are a great match, we will follow up with a phone call. We may also reach out about other dogs in our care who could be a wonderful fit for your family.

Story
This sweet baby was left to fend for herself. We found her on the side of the road full of stickers, hungry and thirsty. She is super sweet, playful and listens well. She appears to be a puppy, under a year old, no heartworms or other health issues. She would make a wonderful family dog but is still a puppy and would need further training. We have had her in our house and she has made NO messes whatsoever. We will only adopt to someone with a Fenced yard and that will NOT leave her outside all day. She would need to be inside with the family. So if that is not your intention, please do not respond. In addition, we would need to see where she would be kept and do a meet and greet to see if if would be a good fit for both parties.
