Story
Elena is a very loyal, sweet, energetic and loving dog. She is great with children, other dogs and LOVES attention. Unfortunately, being a military family seems to be too much for her with moving often. We’ve had her for over a year and tried everything we can to get her to adjust but sadly hasn’t worked with her anxiety.. She needs a kind, loving, stable home where she can be loved on as much as she wants.

Story
Meet Palmer Palmer is a handsome ~2½-year-old Border Collie mix who has been patiently waiting for his forever home while he heals from a significant abrasion to his foot, but true to his breed and his resilient spirit, Palmer is ready for a lifetime of the perfect companion. Palmer is happiest while doing what he does best — being active, fetching balls, playing with toys and engaging with his people. He’s smart, athletic, and happiest when he has room to move and a purpose to focus on.? Palmer is house trained and has mastered the “sit” and “wait” commands, proudly showing off his ability to listen and obey when given the positive reinforcement and encouragement he needs to be successful. He loves leash walks, but sometimes his exuberance can be a bit overwhelming but we are sure that with consistency and regular walks, he will learn to be a perfect walking companion. He’s an intelligent dog who thrives with loving, consistent discipline and clear guidance.Palmer would do best in an adult-only household that understands the needs of a driven, intelligent dog and is excited to include him as part of their daily routine. With the right structure, exercise, and affection, Palmer will be a loyal companion, adventure buddy, and devoted best friend.IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATIONThe dog you are considering is located in South Mississippi, with transport available (for an additional fee) to approved adopters in the Northeast. Virtual meet-and-greets are performed prior to adoption.Completing an application is the only way to receive a response from our small rescue team.Submitting an application does NOT commit you to adoption—it simply begins the conversation about whether this dog is the right fit for your family._______________________________________________________________________Apply here: www.animalaidms.org/adopt_______________________________________________________________________If your application is approved and you are a great match, we will follow up with a phone call. We may also reach out about other dogs in our care who could be a wonderful fit for your family.

Story
Meet Jack! ??Jack is a 3-year-old, 38-pound Border Collie mix with a gentle personality and a sweet spirit. He’s looking for someone ready to choose him—and keep choosing him. ??Jack originally arrived at the shelter as a stray in May and was adopted at the end of June. Unfortunately, just over a month later, he was found straying again and returned to the shelter when his adopters chose not to reclaim him. Through no fault of his own, Jack is once again searching for a family.Jack is a gentle soul who gets along well with other dogs. He may not be the dog putting on the biggest show from behind his kennel door or demanding your attention as you walk by. He’s the kind of dog you need to slow down and spend a little time with—and when you do, you’ll discover the sweet boy underneath. At 38 pounds, Jack is a great medium size and would love the opportunity to leave the noise and activity of shelter life behind. A home where he can settle in, build confidence, enjoy companionship, and finally know that he belongs would mean everything to him.Jack at a Glance:* 3 years old* 38 pounds* Border Collie mix* Gentle and sweet* Dog friendly* Medium sized* Ready for a fresh startJack has already been a stray twice and has already thought he found his forever home once. We’d really like the next time he walks out of our doors to be for good.Come spend some time with Jack. He may not demand that you notice him—but he just might be the dog you’ve been looking for.

Story
This sweet baby was left to fend for herself. We found her on the side of the road full of stickers, hungry and thirsty. She is super sweet, playful and listens well. She appears to be a puppy, under a year old, no heartworms or other health issues. She would make a wonderful family dog but is still a puppy and would need further training. We have had her in our house and she has made NO messes whatsoever. We will only adopt to someone with a Fenced yard and that will NOT leave her outside all day. She would need to be inside with the family. So if that is not your intention, please do not respond. In addition, we would need to see where she would be kept and do a meet and greet to see if if would be a good fit for both parties.
