Story
Rue is one of the most obedient, love-able, cuddly, and happy dog I know. We recently went through a big change. She is used to having a back yard, with other dogs, and family and friends, in and out. We are currently living in a studio apartment and I just do not think it is for her. I want her to be happy and be able to run around for hours in the day. She is not getting that here. She is very good with other dogs, cats, and children. To be honest she is a family dog. She would do much better with someone who had a backyard and a family. If possible I would like to keep in contact just to make sure she is doing okay. I know she will need time to adjust so I wouldn’t mind working with her and the new family. Thank you. ❤️

Story
Hiya! I’m Agatha!I became homeless on January 3, 2026, after someone abandoned me on Mound City Road near the firecracker stand. I stayed there for a few days, waiting and hoping someone would notice me. When Animal Control finally arrived, I was SO happy to see them! I bounced up and down, ready to leave that lonely stretch of road behind. And honestly? That was the best ride of my life. The good news keeps getting better — I was already spayed when I arrived (bonus points for that!), and I’m heartworm negative. Now I’m also up to date on all my vaccines, which means if I find a loving family… I’m ready to walk right out the door and into my forever home. Here’s a little about me:• I like other dogs ??• I do well with older kids• I dream about cozy couches and family movie nights• I’m ready to trade road life for home lifeI’ve had enough of being left behind. What I really want now is a soft place to land, a family to call my own, and a couch where I can curl up beside my people. If you’re looking for a happy, resilient girl who is ready to love and be loved, I’m packed and waiting.Let’s go home. ????

Story
Meet Denton ?? – a shy sweetheart ready to bloomHello viewers, my name is Denton. I became homeless on January 27, 2026, when I came into the shelter simply to escape the frigid cold and icy conditions. I was hoping it would be temporary, but my owner never came back for me. Now that the weather has improved, I’m really longing for a home of my own again—I’m tired of being cooped up and dreaming of fresh air and freedom.I’m likely a Border Collie or Shepherd mix, on the smaller side at 30–35 pounds, and I’m an adult dog. That means I’m a great size for an apartment or a house, as long as I have what I really need: a fenced-in yard where I can stretch my legs and enjoy the outdoors.I’m shy when we first meet, but please don’t let that fool you. Once I feel safe and get to know you, I truly bloom with love. I may enjoy the companionship of another dog or even a cat, and I’d do best with someone patient who understands that trust takes a little time.If you’re looking for a gentle soul who just needs a chance to feel secure again, Denton might be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Momo! Breed: (our best guess) Sheltie mix Weight: 49lbs (very overweight at this weight) This sweet guy is ready to find his forever home living the good life! Having spent most of his life as an outside dog, Momo has had limited experience walking on leash, and most of those experiences have been negative. To rebuild his confidence, his foster parents are working on establishing positive associations with wearing a harness and leash pressure, letting Momo set the pace! Though it’s hidden under his fluffy coat, Momo has quite a few extra pounds to lose as part of his New Year’s resolution! So far, he’s loved staying active by romping around and playing tug with his foster brother, and he would love to be in a home with another dog that can show him the ropes! Momo has warmed up quickly to his foster parents, though he is still timid/uncertain. He will thrive in a home with a fenced in yard and patient owners who are committed to helping him continue to gain confidence.
