Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Meet Buddy, an incredibly loving and affectionate 2 year old 50-pound border collie mix boy who is ready to find his forever home. While he has a mostly calm, gentle, and laid-back demeanor, and enjoys pets and lounging, Buddy has one major quirk: he loves to chase after cars, a behavior that requires a very secure, tall, and sturdy fenced yard to keep him safe. Because his previous owners found it very difficult to keep him contained, a Fort Knox-style fence is mandatory if he is to be outside unsupervised at any point. He is a true Houdini-style escape artist! Beyond his need for secure containment, Buddy is a smart, trainable Border Collie mix who learns new commands incredibly fast. He already knows basic commands and has a unique, impressive, trick routine: with just a finger snap and the display of a "1," he will sit, and with a second snap and a "2," he will lay down, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to please. It can be challenging to keep his attention outside at the shelter because of all the cars driving past (sigh). He is housetrained, too. He enjoys chasing a ball, though he is still working on the "retrieving" part of fetch. He is a quiet companion, not barking except when engaging in play with other dogs. He's reported to be good with cats, and should do well with older children. Until his habit of jumping up for love and affection is cured, he would be likely to knock over toddlers and then lick them endlessly (ha). He doesn't have a lot of leash experience, but is picking up the basics very fast! Buddy is a charming, loving, and intelligent, dog looking for an active, secure home where he can be pampered, properly stimulated, and kept safe. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Buddy is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Story
Roxi is a wonderful almost 5 year old Blue Heeler. We’ve had her since she was 9 weeks old. Sadly, we are moving soon and can only take one dog with us. Roxi is crate trained and house trained. She loves to be inside cuddled up and also loves being outside. She grew up in the mountains with a lot of land to run and have fun. She is very food and treat motivated. She’s great with our 2 kids and grew up with them. She’s a very loving and compassionate girl. My son gave her a nickname Poxi Poodle which she responds to with great excitement! (She’s in no way a poodle, just a nickname that stuck) It does take her some time to get used to new people, but once she does, she will love you forever. We are hoping we can find her a wonderful family that will care for her the way we did.
