Meet CoCo Name: CoCo Age: 1 year Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Border Collie Mix Color: Black / White / Brown Weight: 10 kg Height: 43–45 cm (shoulder height) Rescue Story CoCo was rescued on November 19, 2025, from a severe animal hoarding case involving over 200 dogs. He was extremely fearful of people when first rescued, but after one month in a foster home, he has made remarkable progress and has learned that humans can be kind and safe. With People CoCo may be a little shy at first, but once treats come out, he quickly warms up and starts trusting. After he bonds with someone, he enjoys being touched and can even be picked up by supporting his belly. When he feels close to you, he will roll over and show his tummy as a sign of affection. His confidence with people has grown significantly — he now shows interest in people on walks and has recently started paying special attention to women, sometimes wanting to follow them. He also prefers to sleep close to his people. With Other Dogs CoCo is generally neutral toward other dogs. He doesn’t seek out play and usually ignores dogs that approach him. However, he can feel nervous around dogs larger than himself. If another dog acts pushy or challenging, CoCo chooses to avoid the situation rather than react. With Cats & Birds When he sees cats on walks, he may look at them with curiosity, but he will follow his handler when guided. He may show a brief chasing response toward birds. Energy Level CoCo has a moderate energy level. He enjoys outdoor activities and especially loves walking, running, and moving. After exercise, he settles down well and relaxes calmly. On Walks CoCo loves walks and prefers brisk walking or jogging over sniffing. He does pull on leash, but he follows his handler and is currently practicing better leash manners. He has recently become more interested in people while walking, which can distract him, so continued training will help. At Home & Other Notes • No food guarding with people or dogs • Rarely barks, but may bark to ask for something • May whine briefly in a kennel, then settles • Jumps into and out of the car on his own • Uses both pee pads and outdoor potty • Not very interested in toys • Knows “sit” and “paw,” currently learning “down” • Recently showing some separation anxiety — gradual alone-time training is recommended • Has chewed phone charging cables, so wires should be kept out of reach • Currently teething, so safe chew toys are important • Not food-obsessed, but happily takes treats CoCo is a gentle, sensitive, and affectionate boy who has overcome a difficult past. FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Sundance! Sundance is a stunning 1.5-year-old, 45 lb Border Collie who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. He does have some specific needs so we are looking for a very specific, well-matched home where he can truly thrive. Sundance is highly intelligent, people-oriented, and eager to please his handler. He already knows commands such as sit, down, and shake, and he is extremely trainable and motivated to learn more! This is a dog who needs a job ~ not just physical exercise, but consistent mental work, structure, and engagement. A herding-breed–savvy or working-dog–experienced home is a must. He does well with other dogs and would benefit from living with another canine companion, ideally a female, to help keep him well-socialized. Sundance can become overstimulated and does have some leash reactivity that will require continued training and savvy handling, but in the right environment, he is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and bonded with his people! Sundance is not a city dog. He will do best in a rural or semi-rural setting (no apartments, condos, or busy urban environments). He is seeking a structured, predictable home with a solid routine as well as an adult-only home is required, with no children and no cats. This beautiful boy would thrive with an active adopter who enjoys adventures, training, and truly partnering with their dog. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Fenton is an approximately 5-year-old, Border Collie/McNab mix weighing about 47 pounds (and still filling out after coming to us a bit skinny). He came from an overcrowded CA shelter and is recovering from a leg injury that has been healing well. This handsome boy is as sweet as they come—gentle, patient, and absolutely adores people. He’s done well with children he’s met and loves saying hello to everyone (he even enjoyed meeting all the trick-or-treaters on Halloween!). Fenton is house-trained, walks well on leash, and is a total fetch fanatic. He loves toys, hikes, and all kinds of adventures, but also knows how to relax and enjoy a good cuddle or nap once playtime’s over. Fenton gets along well with other dogs and would love a playful canine companion—preferably one who can help set healthy boundaries, since he can be a bit pushy at times.
