Story
Auggie is the sweetest boy! Even though he’s only 12wks old, he can be very laid back sometimes. He loves to run and wrestle with the other dogs, then he’s ready to come in and cuddle with his people. He is approximately 10lbs so we expect him to be 35-40lbs when full grown. He is clearly a border collie, but he has a naturally docked tail so something else is in the mix. Whatever it is, he is a very sweet, gentle tempered boy that would be a great addition to a family with kids over 8yrs old. Auggie is very curious and gets very excited when it’s time to go outside and explore so he must have a fenced yard. He is wonderful with other dogs so another playful dog in the home would be ideal, but it’s not required. He does need at least frequent playdates. Auggie is a very smart boy that picks things up quickly so he must have a family committed to lots of training games. He is also very quiet so with a little training, he'd be a great office dog companion. Because of his young age, he should not be left alone for more than 4-5hr intervals.  If you are interested in meeting darling Auggie please email k9cabbie@gmail.com and include your phone number.May 29, 2024, 12:26 pm

Story
Personality: Friendly and easily trainable. Curious like a puppy and not easily excited by other animals (dogs, birds, cats, etc.). Enjoys playing and has a good appetite. Interactions with Women: Licks and wags tail when seeing them, and allows them to pet and cuddle. Interactions with Men: Runs up to them and asks for attention. Sociable with both men and women. Interactions with Children: Shows belly when touched and licks their faces. Interactions with Other Dogs: Approaches and plays with them without hesitation. However, if the other dog shows signs of discomfort, immediately stops and walks away. Very perceptive. Interactions with Cats: Showed no interest in a cat encountered during a walk. Followed the signal to move on without hesitation. Complete Toilet Training: Knew to use the puppy pad right away. Currently 100% successful. Complete Crate Training: Not afraid to go into the crate. Initially whines when the door is closed, but soon waits quietly. Energy Level: After a little over an hour of walking, flopped down on the way back home. Still a puppy, so gets tired quickly with extended outdoor activities. Plays fairly calmly indoors. Comfort with Being Handled: Enjoys being touched and responds well to training with treats. Tendency to Bark: Occasionally barks when demanding something or when nervous. Tendency to Run Away: So far, no tendency to run away. Comes when called and follows well with other dogs. Appetite Issues: Has a good appetite, but no issues. Walking with a Leash: Initially resisted wearing the leash, but as soon as we went outside, happily trotted along, even if the leash got tangled. Reaction to People or Dogs on Leash: Not very interested. Comfortable in the Car: Sleeps or lies quietly in the crate during car rides. Doesn't experience motion sickness. Destructive Behavior: Tried to chew on a wooden table but was immediately stopped and redirected to play with a dog toy. So far, no destructive behavior. Need for a Yard: It would be nice to have a yard, but not a necessary requirement as long as there is a suitable environment for potty training and regular walks. Need to Live with Other Dogs: Would adapt well to living with other dogs who have good social skills. However, also suitable for living as the only dog due to sociable nature. Suitable for Apartment Living: Definitely suitable. Rescue Story: Olly was rescued from a puppy farm and has only lived in shelters since birth.

Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Lucy, a border collie mix, was born 11/6/22 and weighs about 50 lbs. Lucy was returned to the shelter after her original adopters sadly determined she just wasn't the right fit for them, nor they for Lucy. 5/26/24 marked ONE YEAR that Lucy has been waiting for the perfect partner in crime -- uh, we mean, FUN. This sleek bodied girl is full of energy and would love a home with an active person who would like to take her hiking or on other outdoor adventures. Lucy has spent a lot of her life in the shelter so she will need an experienced dog owner to teach her the rules of her new home. She does very well with her routine here, thankfully exhibiting zero kennel stress, and we believe she will adapt well in a patient home that could also provide her with a routine to follow. She has a touch of "stranger danger" but warms up quickly. Lucy gets along with most other dogs but we believe she would do best as an only dog in the home, with friends outside of the home to play with. Lucy tends to be protective of her toys while she is playing, and needs a person who can respect her "me-time" with toys and understand she isn't one to share. Lucy views cats as mobile squeaky toys, so no cats in her family please - just human(s) and Lucy would be perfect. She is kennel trained, potty trained, and has learned commands such as sit and wait. We do not recommend children for this high energy girl. Lucy is a busy girl with high intelligence. She loves learning new things, and wants a go-go-go lifestyle of hiking or agility or just plain PLAY time. We just know the right home is out there waiting for her! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Lucy is a suggested minimum of NO FEE - LONG TIMER (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Story
Welcome Lilly to CCPAL Rescue Foster Program. Lilly is a 4.5 month old 30 pound Border Collie mixed pup. She is probably going to be a 55 to 60 pound adult. She is smart, good in a crate, good in a car and very affectionate. She has gorgeous markings and her face looks like she has eyeliner. She has more floppy upright ears than her her brother. She currently is in foster care of a farm and he gets along well with other dogs and cats. She is not good with free range chickens. She is learning his potty manners and is already spayed and has all vaccines. She is healthy and ready for her forever home. She would be great with someone that loves the breed. She is a mix so doesn’t have all the qualities of the BC but she is smart, attentive and affectionate. She is decent on a leash and would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She isn’t as high energy as the pure bred Border Collie but she is a average playful puppy. An active family wanting a nice young companion to join your family would be best. Another playful dog would be good or a large yard for her to play in. She is currently in Texas and can find a local adopter. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org/ See her cute video.
