Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sakura is a resilient little puppy with a soft heart and a strong will to survive. She came into rescue as a stray after being dumped in front of a house in Texas on a very cold night. She was only about 3–4 weeks old at the time and in very poor condition—mangy, covered in fleas, and not receiving proper nutrition. Thanks to good care and lots of love, Sakura is now healthy and growing into the sweet puppy she was always meant to be. Sakura is playful and curious, especially around other dogs. She wants to play with dogs bigger than her—but when she gets close, she often gets scared and runs away. With consistent training, patience, and positive experiences, she’ll build the confidence she needs to feel safe and secure around canine friends. Like many puppies, Sakura loves to be right underfoot, following her people closely and staying near for comfort and reassurance. She’s still very young and will need all the basics—training, structure, and guidance—to help her grow into a confident, happy dog. Sakura would do best in a home that understands puppy development and is willing to go slow, celebrate small wins, and help her learn that the world is a safe place. With time, consistency, and love, Sakura will make a wonderful companion. Sakura is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 1/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8am-Noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
