Story
This pretty little lady is Wila. She is an approximately 1 1/2 yr old, 18lb Terrier mix that is the sweetest thing ever! Wila came to us when an independent rescuer we work with in Tijuana spotted Wila's mom heavily pregnant and dumped on the street in the rain. The rescuer got the mom, Winnie, to safety and was horrified to see the condition she was in. Winnie (the mom) had skin so infected that they rushed her to the vet where she started treatment and gave birth. Sadly, only Wila survived and the rest of the puppies did not make it. When Winnie was feeling better, we got her out to us and into a foster home with her daughter, Wila. They are together in one foster home and of course we would LOVE to see them adopted together, but also know how hard it is to place two at one time. Wila will definitely come to you a little scared, but she does warm up quickly. She is great with other dogs so we definitely want her in a home with a young and playful dog she can grow with and if you do not have another dog, she can definitely be adopted with her mom, as they are really good together! Wila's mom, Winnie, is an approximately 2-3 yr old, 12lb, MinPin mix. A home with a safe and secure yard is a must along with owners that are not gone long hours during the day. These sweet girls have been through so much that we definitely want to see them in the best forever home out there! Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 Wila and her mom Winnie are spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater LA areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Wila's adoption fee is $450.

Story
Our beautiful boy, Beau! This little cutie is Beau and he is a 6 month old, 12lb Terrier mix that has the absolute most stunning eyes you have ever seen! Beau was being given away for free to the first person that would take him on the Next Door app. Thankfully one of our team members saw the post and reached out to the owner who met her immediately at a 7-11, handed her Beau, and took off. Our sweet little boy is such a ball of sunshine! He will come to you very scared and shy, but give him a couple days of patience and love and he will open up and show his beautiful personality. We are only placing Beau in a home that has another "young" and small breed dog. He does not seem to do well with large breeds. He cannot be an "only" dog. If you do not have another dog, he can be adopted with his buddy, Toby, a 2 year old, Doxy mix. Beau needs a home with owners that are not gone long hours during the day as he is still a puppy and he will bark if left alone. A home with a safe and secure backyard is a must for this playful pup who loves to do zoomies outside! One thing we did discover is that Beau is OBSESSED with water! He will chase and bite as you water your plants and get completely soaked. Also, if there is a pool, he will jump right in, so a home that does have a pool, must have a fencing around it for safety. Another thing is that he gets VERY sick in the car. Even on the shortest car rides he will vomit and drool, so he would not make a good traveling buddy. He is still working on getting the hang of walking on a leash and with outdoor access, he gets the hang of potty training quickly. Beau is such a little love and so happy once he feel safe and we know his forever home is out there! Beau is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. We only adopt in the Greater LA areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Beaus adoption fee is $650 Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

DOB 12/15/2024: neutered 2/7/25, vaccines, microchipped with an AKC microchip, dewormed and vet checked. Smart, knows the doggy door, knows how to use potty pads. All breeds are our veterinarian's best-educated guess or predictions by use of AI (unless otherwise stated that our group has breeder paperwork). In this case, the babies are mixed breed. Dad is unknown and we do have photos of their mom. Since the puppies were born in rescue we know their DOB is 12/15/24. ******************************************************************************** STANDARD RESCUES INFORMATION DISCLAIMER: PLEASE NO CALLS OR TEXTS, AS WE ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS. Border Terrier fun facts

Fun Facts:

Hill foxes could easily destroy farm stock, so farmers and shepherds needed a powerful dog with legs long enough to follow a horse but short enough to follow foxes underground. The Border Terrier was their scrappy answer to their fox predator woes.

The Border Terrier is the only terrier that has a loose and moveable hide, or skin, which was to protect the dogs during foxhunting and allow him to wiggle in and out of tight tunnels.

The Border Terrier is often regarded as one of the oldest breeds of terrier in Britain.
