Story
Hi. Yes. Hello. It is I—Johnny Banana. 🍌 No, I will not be taking questions about the name. It chose me. I simply embody it. I’ve been told I’m what you’d call a “happy-go-lucky puppy,” which I believe is human code for ridiculously charming, suspiciously smart, and dangerously easy to fall in love with. I’ve got that whole “joy to be around” thing down to a science. Whether it’s learning new tricks, making you laugh, or just existing in a way that makes your day better—I excel. It’s kind of my brand. Basically, I’m the full package. I’m Johnny Banana, an 11-week-old, 20-pound alleged Border Terrier mix. And when I say “alleged,” I mean Dr. Google took one look at my photos, shrugged confidently, and said, “Yep, that’ll do.” The rescue didn’t argue, so here we are. Am I actually a Border Terrier mix? A fuzzy mystery creature? A small woodland gentleman in disguise? The world may never know. But let’s be honest—does it even matter? You could call me a Golden Retriever and sure, people might give you a concerned look at first… but then I’d wag my tail, flash my charming little face, and suddenly no one remembers what we were even talking about. That’s the effect I have. It’s a gift. So sure, label me whatever makes you feel better. Border Terrier mix, professional heart thief, tiny fun coordinator—honestly, I answer to all of it. Let’s talk about my social life, because clearly that’s what you’re here for. Other dogs? I’m friendly, playful, and fully convinced every dog I meet is my new best friend. Whether they’re ready for that level of commitment or not is… not really my concern. Cats? Great question. A mystery. An unsolved case. I have not yet been formally introduced to one, so at this time we are filing that under “to be determined.” I assume I would be delightful, obviously, but I cannot legally guarantee that until I’ve had a proper meet-and-greet. Kids? I mean… I am a kid. I’m 11 weeks old. We are essentially peers. From what I’ve been told, I’d likely do just fine—tiny humans, big humans, medium humans—I’m equal opportunity adorable. Just keep in mind I’m still a puppy, so I may occasionally forget my manners in favor of enthusiasm. It builds character. For both of us. Let’s discuss my vibe. My ✨aesthetic✨, if you will. Energy level? I’ve been rated a solid 7, which feels accurate. I’m not out here training for the Olympics, but I’m also not auditioning for a role as a decorative throw pillow. I’ve got pep, I’ve got zoom, I’ve got just enough enthusiasm to keep things fun without completely ruining your life. Adventure-seeker or homebody? Honestly… yes. I am what you might call versatile. Want to go explore, take walks, see the world? Amazing, I’m in. Want to stay home, hang out, and admire how cute I am from the couch? Also a fantastic plan. I adapt. I thrive. I make everything better simply by being there. Overall temperament? “Happy-go-lucky,” they said. Which feels like a very casual way of saying I wake up every day ready to enjoy life like it’s my full-time job. I’m cheerful, easygoing, and generally just delighted to be included in whatever you’re doing—whether that’s an adventure or a very serious nap. Basically, I’m the kind of puppy who fits into your life… and then immediately becomes the best part of it. Water? Love it. Big fan. Splashing, stepping, mildly questionable life choices near puddles—I support all of it. Toys? Also yes. I don’t discriminate. If it squeaks, bounces, or exists within my reach, I’m prepared to give it my full attention for at least 7–10 business minutes before moving on to my next important activity. Alright, let’s really get into the important details about me—my lifestyle, my habits, my overall excellence. Living situation? I’m flexible, like a very cute life upgrade. Got a fenced yard? Fantastic, I will zoom responsibly(ish). Apartment life with walks? Also acceptable, as long as you understand I come with enthusiasm and will require actual exercise, not just a quick “touch grass” moment. Potty training? We are in our “promising young professional” era. If you take me out every couple of hours, I absolutely nail it. Teamwork makes the dream work. Kennel? Model citizen. I sleep there at night, hang out there when you’re gone, and overall behave like the well-adjusted gentleman I am. Destructive habits? None to report. I’m not out here redecorating your home or launching surprise interior design projects. You’re welcome. Barking? Casual contributor. If the group chat (other dogs) gets loud, I may chime in. It’s called participation. At the end of the day, I’m just a happy-go-lucky, ridiculously lovable, very smart puppy who’s going to pick things up quickly and make your life significantly better. The only real question left is… how long are you planning to wait before making the best decision of your life? So here’s the part where I wrap this up and pretend I’m not the obvious best decision you’ll make this year. Look—I’ve got the personality, the brains, the good looks, and the “will absolutely make your life better without even trying” thing down to a science. So if you’re ready for a built-in best friend, adventure buddy, couch companion, and overall upgrade to your daily existence—I’m your guy. Now for the slightly less glamorous, very important part: You’ll need to fill out an adoption application (yes, paperwork, I know… try to stay strong) so the rescue can send your info over to my foster family. They’ll make sure you’re worthy of all this greatness. And when you inevitably get approved, you’ll need to come pick me up in Hutchinson, KS. I will not be teleporting to you. I’ve asked. Go ahead… apply at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app I’ll wait.

Story
Smitty is a Cairn/Norfolk terrier mix.  He is very sweet, but a little shy.  Once he trusts you he is very much a lap dog that loves attention.  He walks well with a harness and leash.  He loves to play with toys.  Not recommended for kids under 12 just because he can be pretty cautious at first. Some of our dogs are adopted very quickly.  If you are truly interested in a dog fill out an application ASAP.  If you take the time to email a question someone will already be ahead of you with a completed application.  You can find all the information we have about a particular cat/dog at the link below as well.  Then click the adopt button to fill out an application.
