She's a sweet young girl with a lovable personality, a playful spirit, and plenty of affection waiting for the family lucky enough to call her their own. Leia is good with other dogs and children, while her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. At only one year old, Leia is still a young dog with plenty of energy and curiosity, but she's beginning to move beyond the puppy stage. They benefit from daily walks, playtime, mental enrichment, and positive-reinforcement training to keep both their body and mind engaged. With plenty of affection, consistency, and opportunities to have fun, a Border Terrier can make a loving, entertaining, and devoted little companion Training, Adjustment & What to Expect At one year old, Leia is still learning and maturing. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on house training as needed, leash manners, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, and positive socialization. Small dogs need training and structure just as much as larger dogs. Positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency will help Leia understand what is expected of her while strengthening the bond she shares with her new family.
