Story
Current Location: Korea 🇰🇷 ♡ 🧡 Meet Ma-eum A gentle soul learning to love again Ma-eum spent his early years tied outside on a farm, living in fear. He was abused by a male owner and frightened by children who threw balls at him. Because of that, he is still afraid of men, loud playground sounds, and the sight of bouncing toys. But despite all this, Ma-eum has the gentlest heart. For the past two years, he has been living in a patient and loving foster home. He has made slow, steady progress — on his terms — and is now ready for the next chapter of his life. 🧬 Personality Ma-eum is a quiet, thoughtful boy with a soft energy. He feels safest around gentle women with warm voices, and he truly thrives in calm, peaceful homes. He may keep his distance from men indoors, but sometimes shows more courage when outdoors. He isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms — but with time and patience, he’ll follow you anywhere. He enjoys peaceful walks, nosework games, gentle pets, and long naps by your side. He doesn't bark much, and he waits quietly when left alone after a short adjustment. 🏡 At Home ✅ House-trained (prefers peeing on vertical surfaces — his foster can provide wall-to-floor pads) ✅ Good with calm dogs (interested and social but may growl at overly excited dogs) ✅ Neutral to cats (no strong prey drive) ✅ Tolerates children (nervous around fast movements but never aggressive) ✅ Excellent in the car ✅ Loves brushing and gentle touch 🚫 Afraid of balls and squeaky toys — he prefers games with treats instead 💛 Ma-eum is looking for… A family who will let him set the pace. Someone who doesn’t expect instant cuddles but understands how meaningful it is when a shy dog chooses to stay close. Ideally, a female adopter or a quiet household with gentle energy. 📦 Foster home can provide pee pad setup 📍 Adoption includes interview & home check 📩 If Ma-eum’s story touched your heart, we’d love to tell you more. He’s been waiting a long time for someone who sees past the fear — and into his true, beautiful heart

Story
Meet Rudy Rudy is a 10+ year old senior Mini Poodle, a breed beloved for being bright, affectionate, and deeply people‑focused. He's living proof that age is just a number, this little guy still has plenty of pep in his step and a joyful outlook on life. Rudy arrived with us as a stray, so much of his earlier story is unknown. What we've discovered since then is a dog who thrives on companionship and connection. He's sweet, cuddly, and playful; and he truly shines when he's spending time with his people. Rudy enjoys toys, regular walks, and any chance to be involved in whatever his humans are doing. To make sure Rudy is feeling his best as he prepares for his next chapter, he recently had a dental procedure (thanks to the generous support of our donors) along with senior bloodwork. His mouth is now comfortable, and his overall health has been carefully checked, setting him up for success in a loving forever home. As with any senior dog, adopters should be prepared for some ongoing veterinary care and potential future medical expenses that can come with giving an older dog the love and support they deserve. Training & Support Rudy has shown some signs of separation anxiety, which isn't surprising given how much he values human companionship. He forms strong bonds and prefers not to be left behind. He will do best with gentle, reward‑based guidance, clear routines, and reassurance to help him feel safe and secure. With patience and consistency, Rudy can continue building confidence and learning that time alone doesn’t mean he’s been forgotten. Ideal Home Rudy would thrive in a home where he can enjoy lots of affection and company. A household where someone is home much of the time, or able to help him gradually adjust to short periods alone, would be a great match. He’d love daily walks, chances to play with toys, and plenty of cozy cuddle spots. While he may need a little time to settle in, once he does, Rudy promises to be a loving, loyal companion who brings warmth, joy, and plenty of snuggles to his forever family. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. Children: Yes Cats: Maybe Dogs: Yes Training Needs: Separation Anxiety Adoption Fee: $119 If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence. Story
**Note: Currently, Camper is in Korea, but he will fly to Vancouver upon adoption. Background This handsome boy was rescued from a slaughterhouse in the summer of 2022 in Daegu, Korea. After his rescue, he lived in a local shelter for three years but couldn’t find a home in Korea. After hearing his story, we brought him to our boarding house, knowing that a loving family is waiting for him in Canada or the US. His forever home is out there, and he is ready to find it. Personality & Behavior Camper is a wonderful Border Collie with a sweet and gentle personality. He has medium energy, much calmer than a typical Border Collie, making him well-mannered and easygoing. He is social and friendly, not shy around strangers, and he gets along beautifully with other dogs. Camper is never dominant or aggressive; he is always polite and affectionate. Among people at the shelter, he is one of the sweetest and most popular dogs, loved by volunteers for his friendly and gentle nature. Daily Life & Habits Camper is well-behaved both indoors and outdoors. He goes potty outside and is easy to care for. He handles bath time and car ride well, and walks nicely on leash, though he sometimes gets excited by new sights during walks. He does not like being caged but has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior. Camper is simply a sweet, well-mannered boy who makes life easy and enjoyable. Health & Diet Camper has been on regular parasite prevention since his rescue and has had full veterinary checkups. He is dewormed, microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. He is healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. Camper eats kibble twice a day and has shown no food allergies. Ideal Home Camper is smart, quick to learn, and very sociable. He will thrive in a home that enjoys spending time outdoors. While he does not require excessive exercise like some Border Collies, he enjoys daily walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures. He will happily balance activity with relaxation and is a perfect companion for a family who loves to include their dog in their outdoor lifestyle. Whoever adopts Camper will be very lucky to have such a gentle, affectionate, and loyal friend. ------------------------------------- For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please follow the link below.
