Malika was taken off the streets by our rescue partners, who'd been notified of her horrible mistreatment at the hands of a homeless person.  Malika needed veterinary care, and most importantly, help to overcome the emotional damage.  Dogs are so resilient and hopeful, Malika has come a long way but has some way to go still.  She is nervous, but in spite of her fears and hesitation, she has never shown any signs of aggression at all! She gets along well with other dogs and children, so a family that could nurture her and show her nothing but love would be the ideal place for Malika.  She will adapt to family life well and will begin to trust again and become the beautiful dog she's destined to be! Her story is a reminder of how important second chances are -- will you be the second chance this girl deserves? ** Currently fostered in Houston Texas, but available for adoption out of state via rescue transportation, included in adoption fee. Offer Zoom call to virtually meet prior to adoption. Meet Barkley! This sweet baby wandered up on someone's property. He was wearing a harness on that had the brand name boots and barkley, so that's where the finder got his name. Barkley was chipped, but unfortunately it was not registered. It shows that he was adopted in January2023, and that he is estimated about 5 years of age. He currently weighs around 55 lbs and we believe him to be a border collie/cattle dog mix. He has energy and he loves to run and play, but can be a couch potato too. His favorite thing in the world is to play fetch with a ball! Barkley likes other dogs if they are female, but has not been a fan of males. We believe it's from a lack of social time with other dogs because he doesn't come off as just an aggressive pup, he just seems like he was kept in a yard and ignored a lot of the time prior to rescue and may not be familiar with most dogs. Barkley clearly knows his basic commands, such as sit, kennel, shake and settle. He is highly toy and food motivated and responds wonderfully to focused training. With continued training, we could even see him being an agility pup! Barkley is crate trained, housebroken and does well on leash. He is fully vetted, meaning he us neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and on monthly preventions for flea, tick and heartworm.
