Sugar Poppy would love to have an adventure with you! Foster Home Feedback ** Not Apartment Friendly ** Needs a Dog Buddy to Feel Comfortable 1/19/26 Former Adopter Feedback: Sugar Poppy is a 2-year-old Border Collie mix, fully potty- and crate-trained, with her crate as her comfort zone. She has a low to medium energy level with occasional zoomies, sleeps well overnight, and eats a limited-ingredient beef and brown~ rice kibble due to a suspected chicken sensitivity. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, and polite. After calm introductions, she loves affection from adults. She has been friendly and neutral with other dogs and handles outings, groomer visits, and errands beautifully. Sugar Poppy knows sit, "go potty," her name, and goes to her crate on command. She is learning "down," responds well to patient, gentle handling, and walks on a harness. She is improving leash skills but should remain leashed as she lacks recall. She adores car rides and hops right in. Her temperament is exceptional—no aggression, destructiveness, or barking (only occasional soft "awhoo"). She is calm when left alone, resting quietly in her crate. She enjoys brushing, puzzle toys, predictable routines, couch cuddles, belly rubs, and being a cozy companion. Her main challenge is apartment living. Shared hallways, unpredictable noises, and constant activity overwhelm her and can trigger fear behaviors like shaking, freezing, or trying to escape. This disappears in calmer environments—she thrives in houses, public spaces, and family homes. At a relative’s house, she confidently explored, cuddled with new people, and relaxed easily. Sugar Poppy needs a quiet, low-traffic home—ideally a house—with direct outdoor access and no shared hallways. A yard is a bonus but not required. With patient caregivers and a calm environment, she will settle beautifully and show her affectionate, loyal, confident self. She’s truly a wonderful dog who just needs the right setting to shine. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org February 15, 2026, 10:49 pm
