Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Desiree (I answer to Desi, too) and here are some things you need to know about me: Desi is adorable and even though she’s a little cautious when meeting new people, she warms up quickly.  She came to AAMR originally from an owner who was sad to give her up.  According to that person, her mother is a Boston Terrier and Dad is a Chihuahua.  That explains the beautiful brindle coat, the adorable little underbite, the bouncy energy,  and the ‘smarts.’  Even as an adult dog, taking Desi to an obedience class will be great for her and a wonderful bonding exercise with a new family. Desiree was adopted from AAMR several years ago, but came back after her Mom passed away and her Dad was no longer able to take care of her.  Desiree was definitely a ‘Mama’s girl’ and when her Mom was sick, she stayed in the bed with her, leaving her only to go outside to potty and to get her breakfast and dinner! She is a great little companion, and she will definitely brighten her new family’s days!! She has lived her life with adults only, but we think she will be ok with older children who will treat her with respect.  If you think Desiree might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online. Approximate age/birthdate:  born July 22, 2014 Weight/size:  ~ 12 pounds Housebroken:  YES Crate trained:  YES Personality:  happy, friendly (after she trusts you), playful Energy level:  medium … sometimes she still thinks she is a puppy Fenced yard required?:  Definitely preferred.  She loves to get outside in the fenced yard at her foster home and explore.  She enjoys running around with her friends and sometimes she enjoys sunbathing!  She is still a spunky little girl who can move pretty fast.  She should never be outside a fenced area without being on a leash and harness. Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk:  YES Obedience training: NO but she is very smart and she listens pretty well.  Always remember that she is a ‘terrier’ and they are all born with a big stubborn streak! Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first and may drool         Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES.  She did live for a few years in a home with several larger dogs, and she enjoyed that they let her be bossy.  She will still try to be yappy with larger dogs, so she may be better in a home with other smaller dogs. Social with cats:  She would have great fun chasing cats, although she would probably not try to harm them unless they hurt her first. Good with children:  Will probably be OK with older, respectful children.  She likes to play but does not like anyone running at her and grabbing her.  She may be overwhelmed and/or over-excited by a lot of noise and activity with younger children.  Adoption donation:  $100 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if Desi picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Sebastian and here are some things you need to know about me:All dogs are special ... some of God's finest creations, and then there are those who need very special heroes to help them live their best lives. Can you be Sebastian's hero?Sweet Sebastian … what a little mystery he is.  Per the previous owner, his mom is a Boston Terrier and dad is a Chihuahua … which explains the gorgeous brindle coat, the underbite, the big ears and the goofy personality.  He is such a puzzle because once he trusts you, you see a different pup, but until he decides to let you into his world, he is afraid of everything and he tries to hide. He is very cautious of human touch and does not want anyone to pick him up.  He will jump into your lap when he is ready, but he still does not want even his best human friend to pick him up.  And if pushed too quickly, he will warn with a low growl.  He seems to be partial to women, although he does fine with his foster dad.  We are trying to untangle all the pieces of his puzzle to make his world a happier place. Sebastian needs a special home with a patient family!  He will do best with a family with doggy experience … definitely not a good choice for a first pet.  This little boy is truly a diamond-in-the-ruff.  A big investment of time and patience in him will be sure to reap great rewards. If you do not feel like you can adopt and meet his special needs, you can still help him by sponsoring his extended care with tax-deductible donations.  A one-time donation, or monthly or quarterly donations designated for Sebastian's care will be appreciated. If you think Sebastian might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete your adoption application online. Approximate age/birthdate:  born July 22, 2014 Weight/size: ~14 lbs Housebroken:  YES (if you do your part and take him out regularly) Crate trained:  YES Personality:  very cautious, timid, slow to warm up, but sweet and loving once he does, a bit cautious of human touch until he knows he can trust Energy level:  medium  Fenced yard required?:   YES – due to the fact that he is very skittish, he tends to be in ‘flight’ mode so he must have a physical fence for his own safety … no exceptions Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk:  YES (be cautious and use a secure harness and a sturdy leash)  Obedience training:  NO Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK … gets a little stressed at first but settles quickly Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES Social with cats:  Has not been around cats Good with children:  He might eventually be OK with older, calm children but any excessive noise and activity makes him really nervous and he wants to hide.
