Story
Meet Gizmo—affectionately nicknamed Nuggie thanks to his love for chicken nuggets! This sweet one-year-old Boston Terrier/Pit mix is as charming as he is adorable. Gizmo recently had a full vet check and, aside from being a little underweight, he’s in good health and heartworm negative. He currently weighs 31 lbs and should ideally be around 35 lbs, which he’s happily working toward with good meals and lots of love. This boy is crate trained, has been clean in the house, and hasn’t shown any aggression toward people or other dogs. With his friendly personality and eagerness to please, he’s an easy companion to fall in love with. Gizmo still has some puppy energy and tends to jump when excited, so he’d do best in a home without small children until he learns a little more polish on his manners. If you’re looking for a loyal, happy pup who’s ready to become your best friend, Gizmo might just be the perfect fit. He’s already stolen hearts where he is now—don’t miss the chance to let him steal yours too! Apply to adopt at hsdavie.org/dogs

Story
We have a sweet girl who needs a new home. She arrived at my dad's house as a stray over a year ago, and when the neighbors called animal control, he stepped in to take her. However, since then, my mom has passed, and my dad's health is making it difficult to maintain a house/yard; he is planning to move into a retirement community. Unfortunately, Roxie isn't allowed. It breaks his heart, but he has to move for many reasons. We are looking for a loving home for her. She is around 65 lbs, has been spayed, vaccinated, and is very trainable. She has a lot of energy, but she's eager to learn and please. She is comfortable with a yard with a fence or snuggling on the couch. We had a trainer evaluate her, and he said she would be best in a home with a fence (since she needs lots of exercise) and no small children (not due to aggression but to overstimulation and the need to be gradually socialized). We are willing to travel to meet or deliver her to the perfect home!
