Meet Willie Nelson! This sweet senior fellow is a well-mannered gentleman and cuddle bug. He came to ABTR after we were notified by Southern Animal Foundation that he'd been dropped off in their yard. He'd sustained obvious trauma to his right eye and his left was atrophied. We immediately provided him the vetting and ophthalmology care he needed. His right eye could not be saved, and his left has limited vision, but he functions quite well in his foster home. He receives one eye drop medication twice daily and will require continued veterinary opthalmology check ups. He's an excellent listener, walks on a leash/harness alone or with another dog, is crate trained, and will sit on command. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys his daily walks. He likes his twice per day meal schedule. Willie is estimated to be 10 years old, weighs 19.4 lbs., neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Willie would be an excellent companion for a retired person. Calling all scruffy dog lovers! If you are looking for an adorable puppy to join your family, let me introduce the Fabulous Ms. Maple! Maple is a five-month old Miniboz (her mom is a 15-pound Boston and dad is Schnauzer). Maple weighed in at 12.5 pounds at her last puppy check-up and is expected to be around 20 pounds when she is full-grown. She has had all of her shots, is in perfect health and is now ready to find her furever family! Maple has an adorable personality and is very smart and goofy. She loves playing with other dogs and will likely do well with cats although she has not been cat tested (she is indifferent to cats when we are on walks). Maple is also great with children and would thrive in an active home with a family and fur-brothers or sisters. Like most puppies, Maple is full of energy but also loves to cuddle and always wants to be near you. When she came to her foster home, Maple had some separation anxiety issues but with training and trust, she has come a long way! That said, if you are a "no dogs in the bed kind of person, Maple may not be the puppy for you as she is happiest sleeping next to her person where she feels safe. She does great in her crate during the day though and has been enjoying limited home alone time with roaming freedom privileges with her foster brother and sister. Maple became the unofficial office dog at her foster mom's work and has been an excellent emotional support puppy for all of the tax staff and clients. She has really come out of her shell being in the office and went from a timid, scared puppy to a little social butterfly who gives puppy kisses to almost everyone she meets. At the time of this posting Miss Maple is still intact as she's too young to be spayed. If adoption occurs prior to Maple being altered, a Spay Contract will be in place requiring the adopter to have her spayed by a licensed veterinarian at their own expense. Introducing Sky! Sky is a 7+ year old Boss-ton Terrier, gray and white with attitude. She's spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccines. Sky came to ABTR after her family experienced a life event and could no longer provide appropriate care. She is a lightweight, weighing only 19 pounds. Don't let her age fool you , Sky has ALOT of energy and is good with children, cats and other non-dominate smaller dogs. She is still working on her manners because she is experiencing and learning everything that she did not experience in her small 10x10 pen. After a good romp in the yard and playing with her ball, she flops into a good restful nap. Sky would be her best self if she had a non-dominate female dog to play with. She is crate trained but would rather snuggle with a family member in "the big bed". She has been spoiled with hand cooked meals, and doesn't mind telling you she needs "more". Leash walks are ok, and she's getting use to it. This darling pup is house trained but she will NOT bark at the door to go out. You have to keep a good eye to avoid unforeseen accidents. Her favorite place in the evening is beside you in your chair.
