Story
We adopted our Jelly from the SPCA in August, 2023. when she was approximately 8 months old. She was extremely shy and scared when we brought her home and it took several weeks to get her more comfortable with us. We had two other small dogs at the time and she got along well with them and they became fast friends over the next couple years. She is still very cautious of other people and animals and it takes her time to trust and accept new people. She hasn't been introduced to other dogs. She walks well and although we used a muzzle for the first couple years, we no longer do and she is far less reactive than she used to be. If the other dogs/people we pass are calm and quiet, she is just fine....we do give others' space when we are out walking just to be sure. She barks when people come to the door, but other than that is generally quiet. She has all the goofy boxer traits and she is very loving once she accepts you. We must have her rehomed by July 18th.

Story
Meet Bucky!Bucky is a sweet, easygoing boy with a big heart and an adorable boxer-like look in a smaller package. Bucky is a fairly low-energy dog who would be happy with a family that enjoys a balance of activity and downtime. After some outdoor fun, he`s more than ready to settle in and be your couch companion.Likes: He enjoys the simple things in life: walks, spending time outdoors, jogging around the backyard, and relaxing on the couch while soaking up plenty of belly rubs.Special considerations: He needs to remain on a lamb-based diet to keep his skin healthy and itch-free. He also benefits from a wonderful mousse treatment from IWARS that helps keep his skin moisturized and comfortable. My dislikes: When meeting new people, Bucky can be a little nervous at first. He appreciates patience and understanding while he gets to know someone. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality shines through.Dogs: Bucky gets along with other dogs, although he may need a few days to build trust. Once he does, he`s all about friendship and playtime. Cats: His experience with cats is unknown. Children: He has done well around children.Kennel Trained: Yes, Bucky is kennel trained, though he is often left out, and has been respectful of the home without destroying belongings. House Trained: He is also fully house trained. If you`re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys outdoor adventures, quiet evenings, and plenty of affection, Bucky may be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
4 year old Lola is a survivor. She was pregnant and living on the side of a river, and surviving from scraps from a stranger. Eventually a kind stranger managed to get her and her puppies into shelter. Lola is a beautiful Mexican special mix – her pups look like small black labs – she may be a shepherd x terrier x lab mix. She’s her own mix of very special girl. Lola is lower energy, but spins in excitement if you might be so kind to toss her a ball, or when her dinner is ready. Check her out here: https://www.instagram.com/pvcaanimalrescue/reel/DR-vk8YksCo/ Lola is careful with strangers at first but also VERY affectionate. Lola isn’t keen to go far – she prefers the safety of the sanctuary – perhaps worried she may be dumped again. She is looking for a quiet loving home. She is healthy, spayed and vaccinated. If you think you might be a fit, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Please check your junk mail for our response.
