Story
Zora is a spunky young female boxer. She came into rescue from a local shelter, and before that she lived her entire life in a fenced yard with her littermate. Zora is very playful and exuberant, and loves all kinds of toys. But the thing she loves most is being petted and snuggling with her dog brothers and foster humans. She is completely housetrained, rides perfectly in the car, and walks well on leash with no pulling (see below for exceptions). Zora is working on her house manners and crate training but is extremely bright and learns quickly. Because she wasn't exposed to other dogs and new people, she is reactive to both. However, she can be redirected using treats and responds well to praise. Zora would do best with a well-adjusted/socialized male dog. She loves rough housing with the foster family's 80lb American Bully mix, and is fine with their older male Pug (Zora is somewhat more interested in playing with him than he is in playing with her 🙂). The foster family doesn't have any cats or smaller pets, but Zora has shown some prey drive when on hikes. This indicated that she may not be ok with smaller pets, birds, or cats. Dog-savvy, respectful older children may be ok. Boxer experience (specifically female/puppy) highly recommended. Well-adjusted/socialized male dog of similar size required. Zora will require obedience/behavior training to address her reactivity as specified in the adoption contract. Wall-E Wall-E is a great, happy and playful boy. He is wonderful with people and other dogs. Though no fault of his own, Wall-E ended up in the shelter. Luckily, the shelter reached out to Boxers and Buddies to get this good boy safe. Wall-E is a boxer mix - likely mixed with cattle dog. He is in a temporary foster as we wait for a space to open up in the rescue. We will update you on Wall-E as we learn more! Story
Joplin Hi! My name is Joplin (my fosters call me “Jolly”) and I'm the sweetest girl you will ever meet. I'm happiest when I'm with my foster parents following them around wherever they go and helping out at home. I really like to be involved with whatever my family and friends are doing! I enjoy sleeping in lots of places: on my bed, on my blanket in my crate, or outside in the sun. Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy a good walk but I am not made for marathon trips. I walk very nicely on a leash and know basic manners. I spent time living on the streets and am getting stronger thanks to my foster family providing stability. I do have my potty routines and my fosters do a good job of making sure I go outside regularly since I am still learning indoor life. I am not able to hear at all which is one of the reasons I stay so close to my fosters and my other dog friends. I'm looking for my forever home. I can't wait to meet you and win you over with my engaging eye contact, warm cuddles, and calm demeanor. Adoption Fee: $275 8 yr old female Boxer Breed: Boxer Age: 8 Years Size: L Gender: Female Good with: Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes Cats: Yes For more information and pictures, or if you're interested in adopting me, please visit: www.boxersandbuddies.com. Story
Cookie Cookie is a wonderful, sweet and loving dog. She is being rehomed due to a divorce. This girl is deaf, but it is NOT a disability. Deaf dogs can do literally EVERYTHING a hearing dog can do. You just need the right guidance. Because of this, training classes are MANDATORY. We also require certified (CPDT) trainers. Lucky for you, one of our volunteers is not only a certified trainer, but specializes in deaf dogs and will be more than happy to help (and even give you a discount on training)! It seems like a lot, but it is all to help you and your new dog have the best start to a long and amazing life together.
