Story
Available to adopt: Lou Current Location: Outside Chicago, IL Hello! My name is Dippy Lou! I typically just go by Lou though. “Spirited” is the word often used to describe me. I think it’s a pretty good word! I am 2 years-old and am definitely on the taller side of the boxer spectrum for girls! But I will admit, even though I am a bigger girl, I am still a little scared of meeting new people and men in particular. I will warm up after a bit and then just want you to see me and love me as much as possible. My foster parents say that I am a pretty dominant girl and will need a home that will continue to work on my training and not let me push them around!I love to run and play with other dogs and would love one or two in my new home. They really should be the same size or bigger than me as I am kind of a bully to smaller dogs. I just don’t understand my size! I also REALLY enjoy chasing cats, so if you are looking for someone to scare off cats, I am your girl! But if you love your cat, I am probably not the girl for you. I would really like a fenced in yard that I can run and play in safely. I am a good girl in my crate, though I demand what is called the “airline” style crate with the big plastic sides as the wire crates are a piece of cake to break out of. I can stay in my crate for up to 8 hours with no problems! It is encouraged that my new home understands my needs for some good old down time and is on board with letting me hang out in my crate. Trust me, it will be for my sanity, and yours! I love ALL toys. I like being groomed and pampered and I am pretty smart too. I know basic commands and I walk pretty well on a leash. I don’t have any medical concerns, but I am a picky eater. I am a lady after all! I tend to like foods with a fish ingredient more, as fish helps me keep my slender figure!Ultimately, I am a real sweet girl, I just need some guidance and a nice family who will welcome me and continue teaching me how to be my best girly self! Do you think you might be my perfect match? ##2233738##

Story
Available to Adopt - Gully Current location - Fort Wayne, IN Sometimes, you just have to take a chance on love. Who among us hasn’t at some time? Back in March, we took a chance on this beautiful boy. Is he a boxer mix? Yes. But, that didn’t matter. If we didn’t take a chance, Gully was likely to be euthanized at the shelter he was being housed at, after being found as a stray. He was in pretty bad shape, was very skinny with many compression sores and an infection. Even with all the unknowns, this good boy melted our hearts and we took that chance on him. We knew his medical needs could be taken care of and we had hoped to find him that perfect home and improve on the poor life he’d known previously. Fast forward, over 250 days later…. No, that is not a typo. This boy has been with us that long, hoping someone will take a chance on him again. Is he happy, healthy and well cared for? Oh yes, by one of our amazing fosters. But, he wasn’t meant to stay in foster care forever. He’s meant to be in his own permanent, loving home. To be honest, we are having a tough time finding that. Is it because he doesn’t look “boxery” enough? Is it because he would do best as an only pet? We really don’t know for sure, but we are asking for your help in finding his family. Could it be you? Could it be someone you know who is just looking for a great dog? Please share his information with them. Gully is estimated to be 2-4 years old, so well beyond puppy antics. He is very trainable and loves to play and follow you around. In his foster home, he is living with other dogs under supervision, so it is possible he can be around others occasionally. In his permanent home, we do feel he’d do best on his own. In this season of giving, are you able to give this boy the home he deserves? Are you willing to take that chance on 4-legged love? Please consider Gully. He so deserves a chance. ##2005207##

Story
* Location: Near Cleveland, OH Hello! My name is Valentino. They say I’m named that because I was born on Valentine's Day. Pretty cool, huh?  I'm 4 years old and originally came from a home where I was not treated very well. Since I came into the rescue, I’ve been pretty spoiled, and I won't lie, I like it... a lot! I am neutered and current on all my vaccines.   Now to tell you a little bit about me. I'll start with the good stuff first  I'm super loving and affectionate. I like to cuddle, but I will also go off and lay on my bed. I love my toys and enjoy playing fetch, but I also enjoy playing with my toys by myself. I toss them in the air or roll around on the ground squeaking them. My foster mom says I act more like a puppy than a 4-year-old and that I'm pretty darn adorable!  I've never had an accident in the house and can be left alone loose and not be crated. I've never gotten into anything, I'm a good boy. But, I will admit when my foster mom leaves, I prefer to be able to look out the window to watch and wait for my her to come home. I do prefer to be with someone who's home more than gone. If you work from home, I would love to share your office with you, that's what I do with my foster mom now. I enjoy sharing your space. I know how to sit, stay, come, lay down, and wait. What I’m not so good at yet is not getting excited and overstimulated. When people come in the house, they say I still need to work at not being so enthusiastic.  Once you get settled in and pay attention to me, I will calm down.  I won't lie, I just love lots of attention. I'm best in a home without other dogs. They say I'm reactive when on walks and I need some training with this. We're working on it, and I’m hoping to improve. I'm really trying, but I never had any kind of training before so it's not always easy for me. Walking on a leash is totally new to me, so that is a work in progress still.  I will need a fence to keep me safe. I could probably jump over a 5 ft fence if I wanted to, so I guess I might need a 6 ft fence. I just can't help myself. I get really excited sometimes when I see people and dogs.  Do you think you would have the patience to work with meand help me be my best self? Please complete one of those application things if you do because, after all, I am pretty cute and you will fall in love with me immediately. I’m not bragging or anything, but that's what my foster mom tells me all the time.  I can't wait to find my forever home!!! ##2122141##

Story
Hi..I am looking to rehome my son's dog Roscoe. My son has significant life issues which make it difficult for this sweet dog to be adequately cared for. Roscoe is wonderful around children but it is unknown how he is with other animals as he is the only pet in the house. My son has had him less than a year and he was around 7 months old when my son got him and in his previous home he was only raised with his fur mom who was a brindle bull mastiff. Unsure if she was pure mastiff or not. Roscoe is not neutered and this could account for his high energy level. He is quite calm when he is home with his person/people but gets very happy and energetic when new people come to the house..not in an aggressive way but happy to meet you! He is a runner and quite strong so a fenced in yard would be best or if not must be on a leash to go out potty. With proper attention and training he will flourish.
