Story
We got Duke 13 years ago from a family who was going to surrender him. At the time that we had gotten him, my 3 daughters were young, and we found that he's wonderful with kids. He loves to spend time with family the most, almost always sticking by your side. As long as he's been with us, he's been accustomed to sleeping next to someone, eating whenever he's hungry, and because he doesn't like walks, running free in a big yard. Duke is an indoor dog, but he absolutely loves to be outside in the sun when its warm. He's about 14, but he loves to play when you're up for it, typically with a ball or rope to play tug of war. When you do play, he'll playfully growl, but he does not bite. His favorite game, though, is playing fetch outside with a large stick. He's grown to love his pampered life, he receives one bite-size bone each time we all leave the house, as well as a pork bone always accessible. Duke has been a blessing to our family, he is a friendly dog that will fit any family.

Story
Tyson is a wonderful, 7-year-old Boxer-Pit Mix we welcomed at 9 months, and he has been a wonderful, obedient pet. He is an incredibly affectionate boy whose favorite things are snuggles and being with his people, though he can be overexcited when greeting. He requires little activity, crates very well (often hanging out in his open crate!), and is trustworthy alone in the house. We are rehoming him because new family dynamics, including a grandbaby, means he is receiving less attention and needs a calm environment to truly thrive. We are seeking a quiet, loving family who can provide him with the focus he craves. He is neutered with no medical issues, is good with small dogs, and is comfortable with both unfenced and invisible yards. Please note he is somewhat protective of his home and barks at visitors/cars. We are confident he will be a devoted companion in a peaceful setting. We desire to see Tyson with his new family by early-May 2026.

Story
Blue is a 13 year old brindle pit mix with one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. He came to Best Pals after his family fell into homelessness and was unable to keep him in the hotel where they were staying. With love and heartbreak, his mom surrendered him so her children would have a safe place to sleep. Despite everything, Blue acts like a dog half his age. He loves car rides, long walks, tug of war and a good bone to chew on. He’s also a champion cuddle buddy and happiest when he’s relaxing near his person. Blue lived peacefully with children and doesn’t seem to mind cats. He would do best as the only dog in a calm, loving home. Blue received full vaccines and a senior blood panel upon arrival, which revealed he has Lyme disease. He is currently on a 30 day treatment and responding well. He’ll just need someone willing to keep up with his routine care as he continues to feel better. Blue is gentle, loyal and endlessly loving. He deserves a soft landing and a home where he can enjoy his golden years in comfort and safety. If you’re looking for a grateful, affectionate companion, Blue is ready to meet you.

Story
Meet Razzle Dazzle! We believe this cutie is about 3-4 years old. He is about 70 pounds. He is such a sweet boy and is a staff favorite here at Mapleview and the rescue! Everyone loves to be greeted by him in the morning and say goodbye to him when they leave for the day.   Razzle is currently in a foster home and is doing amazing. He loves other dogs and does great with all people and dogs.   Razzle loves all people! He does need a cat free home. He likes to play and has a lot of energy! He would benefit from some basic obedience training and he doesn't realize his size and gets so happy to see people!   We have discovered that Razzle has some allergies which is not surprising with his beautiful white coat and his breed. He came to us with some very sore and torn up paw pads and wounds on his legs. He does better with apoquel, a more expensive allergy medication. He also is on a hypoallergenic diet which is helping his skin as well. He is worth it! He is such a good boy and deserves to be comfortable!   An approved adoption application is required. The $250 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; heartworm and tick disease testing; fecal w/ giardia testing, monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention . Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.March 6, 2026, 11:57 pm

Story
Rizzo was a pup of our family dogs. Bella an (American bully) and Rocko a (red nose bully). Both of them were rescues, so we don't know there full breeds. Rizzo's birthday is November 9th, 2019 which makes him almost 6 years old. He has two different colored eyes, one blue and one brown. He is house trained, he knows all the basic tricks, plus some. Hey will sit and wait to be played to eat his food. He does like to cuddle and will be a good companion for a single person or a family.
