URGENT FOSTER NEEDED — OTTO IS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN.   Some dogs at animal control jump at their kennel doors, barking and begging for attention. Others wag their tails, hoping someone will stop and say hello.And then there's Otto.   Otto may be one of the most terrified dogs we've ever encountered at animal control. When you approach his kennel, his entire body is trembling. Not just a little nervous shaking. He is practically vibrating with fear.   Getting him to come out of his kennel takes an incredible amount of patience and encouragement. And when he finally works up the courage to leave, he doesn't walk out. He army crawls. Keeping his body as close to the ground as possible because he is just that scared.   Once outside, the fear doesn't go away. Even after spending several minutes with him, he never really relaxes. A kennel at animal control is not where a dog like Otto is going to heal.   He needs quiet. He needs patience. He needs someone who understands that progress might look like taking a treat, lifting his head, or choosing to come a few inches closer. He needs someone who won't expect him to be a happy, outgoing dog tomorrow. Or next week. Or even next month.   He needs someone willing to meet him exactly where he is.   WHAT OTTO NEEDS IN A FOSTER HOME: An incredibly patient, understanding person who will let him decompress at his own pace. A quieter household without a lot of chaos or commotion. A safe space of his own where he can retreat and feel secure. Otto was found with another dog, so we believe he may be dog friendly. Someone who understands that building trust takes time and won't rush him.   Rover's Do Over is a 100% foster-based rescue. We don't have a kennel or facility to bring Otto to. Until a foster steps forward, he has nowhere else to go.   It's heartbreaking to watch a dog be this afraid. To see him trembling so badly that he can barely bring himself to move. Jojo is being fostered in Illinois. She has some vision. Hi. My name is Jojo. I am a 4-year-old boxer mix. I like to think of myself as a playful happy-go-lucky gal. I may not see you well because close objects are like shadows and a little blurry to me, but I know you are there. I get along well with all the cats and dogs in my foster home. I like cats. But I may need slow introductions with little feisty dogs. But I would love to go to a home that has many friendly 4-legged buddies. I like to be active and meet people and other dogs. However, I am not too good with children because a lot of time kids either approach me too fast or gather around me, which makes me so scared that I have to give a warning snap. But I do love my walks. Even more, I love an open field that I can have all to myself so I can let out a lot of my energy. At home, I like to relax and sit at my spot while my foster daddy is doing his work. Everyday, I get to be petted and it makes me feel loved. I am housebroken. However, every once in a while, I have accidents because anxiety gets the best of me when I realize my foster dad has not been home for a while. I will do well in a home where someone is present 90-95 percent of time, perhaps with someone who works out of home or is an active retired person. Blind Dog Rescue has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
