Story
Hi there! My name is SHIRLEY and here is a little info about me.Breed: Brittany Spaniel/Harrier mixAge: 2 - 1/2 yrsGender: femaleCountry of Origin: Republic of GeorgiaHeight: 21 inchesWeight: 35 lbHighlights: Playful, smart, affectionate, docile, resilient. Gentle, fun, and radiating love, that’s the best way to describe me! Possessing a unique, elegant look and a heart full of hope, I can’t wait to find a best friend of my very own to share my life with. Life began in the middle of a terrifying storm at a remote Black Sea beach campsite.Rescued as a tiny 2-month-old pup alongside my mama and eight siblings, we faced a hard battle with parvovirus in isolation. While it's heartbreaking that most of my siblings didn’t make it, the round-the-clock care from kind humans saved my life. After a full recovery and seeing my mama off to her forever home, I’ve been waiting patiently for my turn to be cherished. Playfulness and intelligence are my two best traits! I’m a social butterfly who loves making friends, though my small size and docile nature make me a bit vulnerable. Because I’ve been picked on by bigger dogs at the refuge, I have a natural fear of large dogs and would feel safest in a home where I can feel protected. Whether it’s running with toys or enjoying dog cookies, I find joy in the little things. Loving, gentle humans who enjoy a mix of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddles would be my perfect match. An extra special dream would be finding a home with my brother, Snoopie, as we make life twice as fun together! A home without large dogs would be ideal to help me feel confident. Since I’m a moderate-to-high energy girl, I’m looking for a family ready to continue my leash training and share many happy snacks with me. Energy level: moderate/highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknown, but rescuer says probably noKids: unknown, but rescuer says probably yes Fears: Big dogs. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash training:  In progress. Please be prepared to continue training me.House trained: Yes. Please show me where to go in my new home. Health notes:Due to the stress of Sanctuary life and competition with larger dogs, I sometimes engage in coprophagia (eating stool), which can lead to temporary diarrhea. This behavior is often stress-linked and typically improves significantly in a calm, stable home environment where I feel safe. I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2613062##

Story
Meet Mello Age: 5 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Spaniel–Jindo Mix Color: Brown / Ivory Weight: 15 kg Height: 57 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Mello entered a municipal shelter in February 2025 and spent 10 long months waiting for a chance. In December, just days before euthanasia, he was rescued and transferred to the AKR Center—where he’s finally been able to show his gentle, affectionate personality.   With People Mello is a very affectionate boy who loves human attention. He happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leans in for pets, and enjoys being cuddled and held. He does not show fear toward men, though he clearly prefers women. He has not had experience with children under 13. Once he bonds with you, he’ll comfortably roll over to show his belly and soak up the love.   With Other Dogs Mello will greet unfamiliar dogs politely but isn’t interested in playing. He prefers doing his own thing—sniffing, marking, and spending time with people. Since being neutered after rescue, he has shown discomfort around larger male dogs. While he does not initiate fights, he may follow and warn similarly sized male dogs, so a home without male dogs is recommended. He does very well with female dogs and small dogs, regardless of energy level. Because he is people-oriented and not interested in canine friendships, Mello would truly thrive as the only dog in the home.   Cats & Small Animals On walks, Mello shows little interest in moving objects and stays focused on his walk. A home cat test is available.   Energy Level Low. Mello is calm, relaxed, and enjoys resting quietly.   ‍ Walks He has excellent leash manners and does not pull. Mello prefers sniffing over fast walking and enjoys frequent stops for scent exploration, marking, and his signature back-leg kicks.   Other Notes • Does not guard food with people or dogs • May guard toys slightly (as shownin the video); may bark briefly to protect his own toy but does not escalate or fight • No separation anxiety • Quiet and calm in a kennel or enclosure • Very happy and bouncy when people return • Rarely barks • 100% outdoor potty trained • May mark in new environments   Medical Note: Mello is missing his front teeth, and his lower right canine has been removed.   Mello is a gentle, people-loving boy who would do best in a calm home where he can be someone’s whole world. If you’re looking for a quiet companion who prefers humans over dog parks, Mello may be your perfect match. Story
My name is CARRIEBOO (Bella), and here is a little info about me:Breed: Shepard/Springer Spaniel mixAge: 3 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 40 kg/88 lbsHeight: TBDHighlight(s): Cuddly, loves attention, fast trusting, playful, gentle giant Ready to bond quickly, and there is lots of me to love and cuddle up with. I am your wonderful girl!I used to be a herding dog, but I was abandoned after having a litter of puppies. My past was tough, I was left sick with an infection, hurt, and emotionally traumatized after my puppies were taken away. It took many vet visits, but I’ve fully regained my health and my spirit. I’m now happy, healthy, and ready for a fresh start!Despite being abused as a young pup, I still crave attention and will trust you faster than you’d expect. Being a playful 'gentle giant,' older children are a better match for me to avoid any accidental bumps during playtime! I bond quickly and have so much love (and fluff) to share. I need a patient home with a yard, ranch, or farm, though a quiet neighborhood house works too! Apartment life isn't for me because noises make me a bit nervous.Three good walks a day and some time to feel safe are all I need to be your most loyal companion. Energy Level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: yes Fears: Sensitive to noises. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: No. Please be prepared to help me learn! Health notes:Due to an old myth, the ears and tail were cut off as a puppy. This does not affect daily life or the ability to be a loving companion.I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Most passengers from the Middle East now require a fee to accompany a dog on a flight. Due to this, if a rescuer finds a flight with this requirement, we will contact you to see if you are willing to pay the passenger. You are under no obligation to do this. If not, another flight will need to be searched for, though there is no guarantee a free or lower cost one will be found. Though oft times a passenger is requesting higher amounts, the fee will not exceed $250. Our rescuers work extremely hard finding flights and spend tremendous amounts of money caring for and sending these dogs to safety. They simply haven't the extra money to cover this. Thank you for your understanding. Story
Hi, my name is CARSON (aka Charlie) and here is a little info about me: Age: 5 yearsGender: maleWeight: 60lbs / 27kgHeight: 64cm / 25inHighlights: playful with other dogs, cuddly, good with all adults, food guarding UPDATE: I made it to Canada. Remarkably, I am alive, as I was skin and bone and scraps all over, upon arrival. The shelter I ended up in, was overcrowded and I had to fight for every morsel to survive. So I was seriously underweight. Probably a week from dying, but LAL saved me.My current home says there is so much good about me. I am fully house trained, but don't like going out in the rain, so will hold it. I am just a big cuddle bug. I bond quickly with people and most everyone loves me because I'm so loving. I freely approach people and really appreciate affection. The home I ended up going to has children, so given my food resource guarding, that is not a compatible match. I need an adults only home. Teens who can understand the issue and effectively handle the rules of the situation would likely be fine. The home where I am at would keep me, if not for a young child. While I do get along with other dogs awesomely well, unless you are experienced with a means to separate us for food issues while I overcome my fears of losing my food supply, it might be best if I am the only dog, for now.I am making good progress in so many ways, even after only a few weeks. I am very responsive to learning and am quite intelligent. I am calmly settling in and I am putting on good weight. I am trying to push boundaries with my new freedom, so a confidant leader is advised. I am not pulling on the leash so much now and go for daily walks. I'm good with other dogs. I just don't like the little yappy ones, but will pass by them. I do have birdiness and will creep up pointing, then leap at flappy winged creatures.Being left alone at home is not something I enjoy. I am not destructive at all. Still just a bit unsure yet. But again, that neediness is subsiding drastically, as I settle in. I like going in the car with you and will patiently await your return. Best to not leave groceries with me in the car though. I will think they are mine.I just need someone understanding of my past to give me the time to learn that I will always have food and will never starve again. Please work with me on this and know, it will improve over time. I just need love meanwhile. I will be your bestest loyal boy. Original posting: Based on my breed traits, my gentle nature around humans, and my affectionate behavior, my rescuers believe I may have once been a working dog—possibly used for hunting. I was found wandering the streets with injured legs, likely discarded when I could no longer do the job I was meant for. When an animal lover gave me attention, I didn’t want to let her go and tried to get into her car. When she let me, I was so happy that I put my head on her lap the whole ride home to thank her. I’m a happy, playful boy who loves meeting new people and heading out on adventures. I bond quickly and deeply, and I’m great with humans. I get along well with other dogs and love to play, but I like to be the alpha when it comes to food—so I’d prefer not to share my meals with my four-legged pals. And cats? Not really my thing. Also, for reasons of food guarding, please, no kids younger than teens. My ideal home you ask?  I would be happy with an active couple or individual who takes me out on lots of adventures, or in a quieter home without kids. I am not very fussy!  As long as I have people to give me cuddles, I will be happy! Energy level: moderate I get along with:dogs: yescats: nokids: only teens & older Prey drive: medium. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: loss of a food source. Please be patient with me through my transition. Training: Some leash training.  Leash skills still need some work. Generally happily walks alongside human handlers, can become stressed and may refuse to walk when he feels pressure from collar/harness. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: No. Please be prepared to help! Health notes: I have a limp in my right hind leg. My rescuers don’t know what caused it, but according to the vet, there is an old break that healed incorrectly on it's own. No intervention or treatment is necessary or recommended now. I will be able to have a normal life despite my limp. Sometimes I prefer not to use my leg, but when I run and play I do use it. My rescuer can provide X-Rays.I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Hi there. My name is BENEKLI and here is a bit about me:Breed: Pointer mixAge: 9 yrsGender: FemaleWeight: 30 kgCountry of origin: TurkeyHighlights: Friendly, Gentle, Loving, Social, Playful Friendly and ready to giv'er in Canada. That is my new motto. Let's have a blast, okay?Times of my life were marked by living in a children's park together with a few other dogs. I  spent time with children and families in the park and loved being around people. After the animal collection law came into effect, I was taken to a shelter. It isn't known how I lost it, but I only have one eye. I could not protect myself and had difficulty eating among the other dogs. I stayed in the shelter for two months and amazingly survived. Now I am living in a dog boarding facility in a cage (yes, you heard that right) and would really like to spread my wings to freedom. In the area where I used to live, there were cats and I had no problems with them. I am fine with other dogs, of course. Not to worry, not having one eye doesn't slow me down at all. I can still romp and play just like everyone else.My ideal home would be one that has a yard, but not a requirement if we can get out for fun times. If my new home allows for yard access, even better. You'll find me to be a bit of a socialite. I enjoy whooping it up with friends. Hard to believe I am a senior, eh? I am gentle & loving though and would enjoy a bit of quiet snuggling moments too.I'd love to spend my golden years in your arms as a Canadian puptizen. Are you ready for me? Videos coming soon.
