I am fully house trained, but don't like going out in the rain, so will hold it.I lay my head on the grand daughter's lap to/from school. Everyone who meets me loves me and I love them. I can be silly, but mostly I am just a big cuddle bug. I do bond quickly with people.The home I ended up going to has a young grandaughter, so given my food resource guarding, that is not a compatable match. Older kids who can understand the issue and effectively handle the rules of the situation would likely be fine. The home where I am at would keep me if not for a toddler age child there. She loves me. While I do get along with other dogs awesomely well, unless you are experienced with a means to separate us for food issues while I overcome this glitch, it might be best if I am the only dog, for now.Having growled and snarled a couple times and even snapped once at them to keep them from food I had gotten, has made them realize small children can't judge things well enough for my issue. BUT... I am making good progress, even after only a few weeks. I am very responsive to learning and am quite intelligent. My nervousness is calming and I am putting on good weight. I am trying to push boundaries with my new freedom, so a confidant leader is advised. I am not pulling on the leash so much now and go for daily walks. I'm good with other dogs. I just don't like the little yappy ones, but will pass by them. I do have birdiness and will creep up pointing, then leap at flappy winged creatures.Being left alone at home is not something I enjoy. I am not destructive at all. Still just a bit needy/clingy yet. But again, that neediness is subsiding drastically, as I settle in. I like going in the car with you and will patiently await your return. Best to not leave groceries with me in the car though. I will think they are mine.I just need someone understanding of my past to give me the time to learn that I will always have food and will never starve again. When an animal lover gave me attention, I didn’t want to let her go and tried to get into her car. When she let me, I was so happy that I put my head on her lap the whole ride home to thank her. I’m a happy, playful boy who loves meeting new people and heading out on adventures. I bond quickly and deeply, and I’m great with humans. While the space is large, it's heartbreakingly overcrowded—more than 300 dogs, and more arriving every day. Despite its scale, the municipality fails to provide even the most basic care for us, including food. Yes, it's hard to believe—but sadly, it’s the truth. That’s why my rescuers began visiting regularly to feed us dogs and check on our condition.One day, while bringing food, they saw a new group of dogs being dumped into the chaos. Among them was me. Being a small, timid soul with kind eyes, I was clearly out of place. If they hadn’t been there at that exact moment to intervene and introduce me gently to the alpha dogs, I might not have survived even the first hour. Dog fights over territory and food are common in such neglected conditions.With every visit, my rescuers noticed I was covered in new bite wounds. Each time, more than before. They were desperate to get me out. Like many rescues though, they are faced with the impossible task of finding a safe space for dogs. Then, on one visit, they found me in terrible shape—my leg shattered, dangling, and trembling. Likely I injured it while trying to escape an attack. They rushed me to the vet, but my leg couldn’t be saved. The only option was amputation.But here’s the miracle: I never stopped loving. Through all the pain, the chaos, the hunger, and the fear—I never once growled or turned away from people or other dogs. I remained gentle, trusting, and affectionate. I adore people and get along great with other dogs. I haven't been around kitties.Now, I am recovering beautifully. I move with graceful dignity, my spirit unbroken. What I need is a second chance—a loving home, a warm bed, and someone who sees me not for what I've lost, but for the incredible soul I am.I radiate happiness and hope. I am a triple sweetheart.
