Story
Meet Birdy – Your Sweet Little Shadow Hello everyone! My name is Birdy, and I’m a Tri-colored French Brittany/Munsterlander 2.6 yr 35-lb bundle of sweetness just waiting to find my forever family. If you’re looking for a loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her people, I might just be your girl. I’m what they call a professional cuddle bug. I absolutely love being a lap dog, and if you sit down, don’t be surprised if I gently curl up beside you. Belly rubs are one of my favorite things in the whole world—if you stop too soon, I might give you a little nose nudge (or a tiny playful nibble) just to remind you I’m still waiting! My tail is almost always wagging because I’m just a happy, affectionate girl who loves being around people. Here are a few things my foster family says about me: Sweet and affectionate – I love cuddles and attention Eager to please and quick to learn Crates nicely and settles well Gets along with other dogs, especially respectful male dogs Loves antlers and Nylabones for chewing Learning leash walking and “stay/off” commands I’m still working on a few things, like most pups. I do have a bit of a prey drive for birds and small critters (I am Birdy after all!).  I need a physical fence, I love to play with my foster sibling, and I can get grumpy if my 4-legged foster sibling wants to take my food.  All manageable. I’m also pretty curious, so my family should be careful around doors because I can be a little sneaky when adventure calls. I would do best with respectful kids and a loving family who enjoys having a sweet dog nearby—because I really love being close to my people. I may not care much about chasing a ball, but if you’re looking for a gentle soul who loves cuddles, companionship, and chew toys, I promise to fill your home with love and wagging tails. All I need now is a forever family to call my own. Could that be you? Important Medical Update for Birdy: Birdy is currently recovering beautifully from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and continues to improve every day. When she first came into rescue in October 2025, she had been very sick, but thanks to thorough veterinary care—including extensive testing and biopsies—we were able to rule out more serious conditions and determine the best path forward for her health. Today, Birdy is doing very well and feeling better all the time. She is currently thriving on a special diet, Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein dry food, which helps keep her tummy happy and healthy. With this diet and continued loving care, she has been making wonderful progress over the past month. Because she is still finishing her recovery, Birdy may need a little more frequent potty breaks than some dogs, but she continues to improve as her system heals. The adoption fee for KS/Birdy, who lives in Olathe, KS  is $350,  which helps to offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.  If you are interested in making KS/Birdy part of your family, please complete the online application by visiting www.nbran.org .  Please let your state coordinator know so we can get the ball rolling.  Also, please email the state coordinator of KS/Birdy-Melinde Waddle @ macgammy@gmail.com  Once approved by your state coordinator, I will setup talking to the foster of Birdy. Transportation can be arranged up  to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.  March 7, 2026, 3:26 pm

Story
Maple is a 2.5-year-old French Brittany who packs a whole lot of charm into her perfect 25-pound frame. Her foster family lovingly calls her “Meatball,” and honestly…it fits. She’s adorable, goofy, snuggly, and absolutely devoted to her people. Maple LOVES car rides, plush toys, and curling up next to you for belly rubs. She didn’t get much freedom or enrichment in her early life and likely spent most of her time in a kennel, so she came to us needing a refresher on potty training and some basic house habits. She’s made steady progress but still needs a patient family willing to keep her routine consistent. She can be a bit curious and may check out items that aren’t technically “hers,” so keeping tempting things out of reach and offering plenty of dog-safe toys will set her up for success. Maple does well in her kennel when her people are out of the house. She may give a little protest bark at first (she just has to make sure you know she has notes), but she settles down and rests quietly once she realizes she’s safe. Maple is not a dog that can live with or closely interact with other dogs. Through training, she has made progress in calmly seeing dogs at a distance with positive reinforcement, but pushing those interactions too quickly can cause anxiety for her. For her comfort and safety, she must be an only dog, and a fenced-in yard (ideally privacy fenced) would suit her best so she can explore and enjoy the outdoors stress-free. She’s playful, affectionate, and incredibly people-oriented. Maple has mastered “sit", and is working on more tricks, but needs a little patience since she isn’t very food motivated. Maple is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Now she’s just waiting for a family who sees how special she is and can give her the structure, love, and dog-free home she deserves. Maple is currently in foster care in Wisconsin and has an adoption donation fee of $400.  If you are interested in adopting her and have been approved to adopt, let your state coordinator know you are interested in her.  If you haven’t yet done so, please go to: https://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application to fill out an application.  Your state coordinator will contact you and take you through the approval process.  If your application looks like a possible fit for her, your coordinator will contact Maple’s coordinator and continue the screening process. Maple’s state coordinator is Hallie Barbara. She can be reached at Minnesotabrittany@gmail.com for questions or inquires.   Thank you for considering this sweet girl.  March 7, 2026, 3:26 pm

Story
Buddy is a one-year-old, handsome fellow. He is part Brittany, part Basset Hound. Buddy had a rough start in life, growing up with 6 of his littermates in the same house after his owner passed away. He was bullied quite a lot and didn't get much human attention. He is making up for that now. He LOVES being with one attentive person. He does not like being left alone and will be by your side every moment that he can. He is very smart and has learned not to jump up on people. He has learned to sit, give a paw, give another paw, and lie down, all within about a month. So the more time you spend with him, the more he will learn.   He does not like being kenneled and will whine loudly if confined. This will need to be worked on.  Buddy enjoys sleeping with his humans at bedtime and will lie quietly on the bed throughout the night. Buddy will need someone who can spend a lot of time with him, and he will need to be crated when left alone. He tends to be very mouthy and will try to investigate and chew on most things, so it’s important to puppy-proof your home. He is also learning to fetch and loves watching and chasing birds. With those long legs, fortunately, he does not attempt to jump fences! Buddy's adoption fee is $400  to offset the cost of vetting and to help other rescues in need. He is currently located in Virginia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad.  For more information, please contact Leslie Trenta @  leslietrentadesigns.com      March 7, 2026, 3:26 pm

Story
Meet Mary Ann and Ginger, an adorable bonded pair of medium-sized rescue dogs who are searching for their forever home. These super cute girls have spent their entire lives on their own until they were recently rescued. Despite their rough beginnings, Mary Ann and Ginger are incredibly sweet and are now learning to enjoy the comforts of a loving home. Both Mary Ann and Ginger get along wonderfully with other dogs, though they haven't had the chance to meet any cats yet. They need a patient adopter who will give them the time and space they need to adjust to their new surroundings and discover the joys of being cherished pets. Ginger, who bravely underwent heartworm treatment, is now healthy and heartworm negative. Both dogs are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and on preventatives. They even tolerate baths and absolutely love being petted. Currently, Mary Ann and Ginger are being fostered in Seguin, TX, where they are receiving the care and love they deserve. If you have a kind heart and a gentle hand, these two sweethearts will surely reward you with endless affection and loyalty. Adopt Mary Ann and Ginger and give them the loving home they've always dreamed of.

Story
Trout has been my best friend for the last 4 years. A friend of mine found him abandoned in the woods 45 mins from town. After failing to find an owner, they fostered him until I brought him home in 2021. My last place flooded, and Trout and I had to move into an apartment without a yard. My allergies used to be mild, but after years of exposure, I now test at a 4+ histamine response (on a 0-4 scale). I have been battling a chronic upper respiratory infection since I moved into this apartment. My doctor said that my allergies keep me sick. I have tried air purifiers, expensive vacuums, dander neutralizing spray, and anti-allergy shampoo, but nothing has helped me get well. Trout needs more cuddles than I can give him right now. He is a lover, adventure buddy, and the sweetest couch potato you will ever meet. I am going to miss my beat friend, and I want to make sure he finds a loving home. Trout is extremely smart and trainable. I can't explain how much I'm going to miss him.
