Story
Bones is your average bull terrier. He knows basic commands, is house trained, does wonderful with people, and does well with larger, older children. He is a freight train with no breaks on occasion. He has a super sweet personality and is just a plan joy to have around. He loves toys and treats and enjoys tug-o-war as a reward for good behavior. He shows a very high prey drive and will chase small critters, usually without intention to harm them. He has no off switch. His zoomies are a sight to behold but he has no idea when to shut off play mode until he's completely worn out. He needs a home that can keep his brain as well as his body busy on a normal schedule. We would be willing to consider a home with another dog if the dog matches his energy or is very very passive. He tends to be to much for most dogs and hasn't learned the cue that other dogs are done playing. Bull terrier experience is a MUST for his new family. He is not a dog for the faint of heart or new BT owners. If you want to see if you can fit this bully boy into your home, please fill out the application for his adoption at adoption.poundpupandfriends.org

Story
Two male paired pit bulls without papers. They have anxiety when separated. I do not have their history, but it’s likely they were abused as they are fearful of some men, hats and loud noises. They get along with chickens (not roosters), but they are not good with cats and squirrels. I do not know about children. They are updated on shots. They are not neutered to possibly be used as studs for stud fee. They come with Advantage Multi with however much I have left by adoption date and Prozac and antihistamines to keep them calmer. I have collars, leases and full body vests that go with them. They went through training and know sit, stay, place, and go to couch and go to crate. They forget but are treat motivated. They are mildly lease trained. They are potty and crate trained. I have medical problems and cannot continue to care for them. I just need them to have a loving home together. They are excellent watch dogs for a farm or business or home. They are inside dogs.

Story
Mateo is a good, loving boy. He LOVES his people, loves being outside in the yard (doggie door trained). He is good with bigger, female dogs. He is not destructive and not much of a barker. Mateo came here just 7 days old, 3 years ago and has lived here ever since. This means he will need some time to adjust to a new home. He will be very shy at first. He is a very loving dog, sleeps in my bed every night, loves his bully sticks and other treats and loves not eating the same dog food all the time.. Never tears anything up or gets in any trouble. I have several dogs, as well as cats. One of those cats was his bestie. They played together every day for the last 2 years. Then something happened, and they got into a bad fight This somehow changed him, and now he keeps starting stuff with dogs his size that "bother" him. He would be fine with, even love having a companion (female, larger than him and not too playful) If you are interested, I will have a few questions for you and there will be an adoption contract. Mateo is up to date on his shots, HW meds and neutered.

Story
Cookie is as sweet as her namesake! She might start off a bit shy, but once she warms up, she transforms into a playful puppy with some adorable quirks. She is always eager and ready to be your walking/running buddy. She is a true fighter and survivor. She came to our rescue after getting hit by a car in South Texas. Her journey in rescue has been filled with hardships and bad luck. Can you please give her the loving home that she so desperately deserves? She has an independent spirit meaning she’s perfectly content with alone time—Cookie is comfortable staying home alone and loves to nap in her crate, which she considers her safe haven. She is so smart, has a gentle personality, and adapts her energy to match yours. She gets along great with other animals (both dogs AND cats). Her dream family would have another friendly dog to play with, as dogs help her feel safe and secure. Cookie loves sleeping! She’ll happily snooze the day away, but she’s always up for a play session. She is very treat motivated once she opens up to you. Cookie would be great for a family who is looking for a loyal, low-maintenance, and loving companion. •House-trained •Crate-trained •Great with other dogs of all sizes •Leash trained •Loves playing fetch •Super treat motivated •Cat friendly Cookie is currently fostered in Austin, TX but transportation is available out of state to approved adopters. If you are interested in adding this sweetheart to your family, please fill out the application on our website: www.savingsouthtexas.com/adoptables

Story
Meet Ducky! She is around 1.5 yo, weighs around 50lbs and we believe she is finished growing. We think she is a pointer or boxer mix and she is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. Ducky was found as a stray with a fractured leg about 2 months ago. She got all fixed up and now has her cast off! She has a little ways to go in terms of recovery, she hasn’t used her leg in that long because of the cast so she’s re figuring out how to work it! Her doctors say that will just come with time. She is good with dogs her size and larger and hasn’t been around small dogs. Ducky is in a foster home with cats and we know she doesn’t care about cats! We have not kid tested her yet as she just got out of her cast, but that’s next on our list. She knew how to sit when we got her, and now that she’s more mobile we’re going to start working on other commands as well. She is more of a velcro dog and loves to snuggle up in bed or on the couch, but be warned...she is a bit of a blanket hog! Ducky is also completely house trained and she’s also happy to chill quietly in her crate. If you think Ducky might be a good fit for your home, please submit your application.
