Story
A dog doesn’t just get the name Fabio for no reason. The name alone gives you a clear image of a striking specimen and the day I met him, I was not disappointed. He is the epitome of why we say rescue is our favorite breed because this boy is unique and interesting in the way only a mixed-up rescue dog could be. A brown-eye, a blue-eye, the looks of a shepherd/husky and the face of a bull terrier. Stunning! Fabio is so fortunate and is being dedicated in a loving foster home where he has really displayed what a keeper he is. From his house manners to his dog-friendly personality, he just fit right in. His foster shared that he slipped right into the routine of things around her house and was fast friends with all the dogs. Not only is Fabio house-trained but he is also crate-trained, has great basic leash skills, and a growing number of basic commands. His foster family frequently takes him out and about for errands or local events and they shared that he has consistently been great easy-company! Fabios foster home includes 6 dogs, a few cats, along with an occasional “guest” who is just passing through. This has really highlighted how dog-friendly Fabio is. Although Fabio is a large dog with a love for physical play, he can read other dogs well and does not push if a dog is not interested. He also has an understanding of his size versus smaller dog friends. Fabio would love a home with an equal sized, playful, female companion but can live peacefully with small dogs. When we introduced Fabio to our house cat he was respectfully cautious and his foster shared he co-exists peacefully with their cats. Fabio could live in a home with dog-savvy cats who feel comfortable around dogs but do not need a playmate in the dog. Fabio is estimated to be about 4 years old and he weighs 60 lbs. Breed and age are details we cannot guarantee given he is a rescue but his personality and presence do fit a dog who has left his puppy days behind. He loves to play but also knows how to take a break, whether that is outside with doggie friends or while out and about at an event- we love that quality! Initially Fabio likes to take it slow with his people but ill give you an insider tip- he loves treats and loves to work for them. You will have his full-attention with a handful of treats and the space to show off the commands he knows. As comfortable as Fabio has shown he can be in public settings, he ultimately loves the peaceful nature of home and having space to run and play so a home with a yard is best for his fur-ever home. Fabio could easily be a family dog and would be well-suited for older kids 10+ who understand he needs time to warm-up, you can’t rush forever. If Fabio stole your heart with his piercing eyes and striking presence, apply today! A dog like him is truly one-of-a-kind and will not be available for long. He is undeniably something special! Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Story
Meet Liza, she is all smiles and a fast friend. We don’t know if people are drawn to her because of her looks or her radiant friendly nature, we just know that they are and she loves it. So much good-girl is packed into her petite little frame and I promise, if you are looking for a dog that will keep the good times rolling, Liza is your girl! Friendly, playful, attentive, with a contagious kind of happiness, she is the side-kick that could win an award for Best Supporting character energy. Take a look then come back to read more-https://youtu.be/nu06j3GL6NI In rescue we cannot say with 100% certainty a dogs breed or age but more than a few signs point to her being a Bull Terrier- a Spuds McKenzie, a Target dog, a Patton dog… these are all things people will say when you are walking her and they can’t remember the breeds name. She will be more than happy to greet each and every one of her adoring fans if you don’t mind. If you do not like attention, this isn’t the girl for you- she is magnetic and her friendly nature will get you into at least one conversation with a stranger when you’re out and about. Weighing 44 lbs she is a perfect mid-size presence which is perfect because she is affectionate and will not hesitate to crawl into your lap to secure a smooch, thankfully she won’t hurt you in the process. It is a toss up for me on my favorite thing about Liza. Looks wise- her ears are so fun and remind me of those cats with the folded down ears. The other is personality/smarts based- it is her soldier like diligence to the command SIT. That command cuts through just about any moment, noise or busy surroundings, and she drops her little booty down with a militant precision. Its like a salute almost and boy does it feel good. We believe she about 2 years old but breed and age are two details, given she is a rescue dog, that we cannot know with 100% confidence. We do think she is fully grown so her size is here to stay. And because we believe she on the younger side, she is the prime age for learning, whether its everyday skills or party tricks. Her attentive nature is really charming and will only strengthen your connection and make you proud but as someone who personally owns a bull terrier, don’t take it personal if she ends up being more of a bestie than a circus dog. The bestie role fits best anyway. We introduced Liza to a handful of dogs and two things were immediately clear, she is dog-friendly and very playful! Her first meeting on leash was marked with excitement and it was easy to see she was ready to play. The greeting was bouncy, which is a bit the breed and a bit her age, but as soon as the meeting was out of the way they were off to play. They hit it off so well that in no time at all, Liza was ready to show him her Humpty dance. As we laughed and waited to see where this would go naturally, she was already back to all four paws on the ground. She was introduced to a variety of other dogs in an effort to gauge the type of dog she gravitates too and enjoys best. She was polite and inviting during each initial meeting and reserved her Humpty dance for her first connection and it was easy to see that it was just a harmless move she does when she is excited and happy. Her foster shared that he she lives with a variety of dogs and the few times she has showed her moves to a dog that wasn’t into it, she respected that and let it go. Basically, why do your favorite dance for someone who wont even appreciate it, boring but acceptable. We all laughed at the idea that we just want to tell the dogs- “it means she likes you!” Either way, she shows off a range of happy, friendly play that any fun-loving, bouncy dog would enjoy. She can for from a game of chase with one dog to a rough and tumble roll-around with another. This is a dog that would love a playful, confident canine companion in her forever home. Her play-style may not suit every dog, the older, more reserved dogs could find her to be too much but we are happy to help ensure it is a good match if you are an interested applicant. It’s also important to know that Liza needs a cat-free home as she’s much too interested in them. An ideal home would include a yard, for running and bouncing but also because she is working on some of the skills that are important for apartment dogs. She has basic leash skills and is very responsive to her handler but is still learning that not every passing dog is open and available to play. She is house and crate trained from everything her foster has seen and he praises her for not having any accidents since she has been with him. Liza would be best suited for slightly older kids, 5+ ish, only because her happy bounce could accidentally knock over a little one on unsteady legs. No matter the size of the people in her life, be prepared- she is affectionate and a bit of a sneaky-smoocher. Liza is a cutie with a fun personality in a perfect smedium size package. Potential adopters are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the breed if you do not have previous experience. Not all dogs fit their common breed personality traits but it is encouraged to be aware which will only help ensure she is a good fit for you. If you have any questions about Liza or the adoption process please be in touch. Story
This boy has the chilliest vibes, its giving unbothered and cool-guy. Now don’t let the boo-boo you saw on his eye give you the impression he is rough and tumble bad boy. He is not. He just got a boo-boo before picture day, we have all been there. From bad haircuts to healing cuts, we have all been there so ignore it because by the time you are reading this we will be healed up and back to perfectly handsome. Take a look at this gent then come back to read more https://youtu.be/92k12cQrbkw Toby is estimated to be about 4 years old, something that surely contributes to the chill, easy-going vibes he brings. We love a confident, mature boy! He weighs 52 lbs and is possibly a bull terrier/ pittie mix. Of course because he is a rescue we cannot guarantee breed or age but I will say this, I have a bull terrier and it absolutely checks from experience, but again- not science. Toby was introduced to a variety of dogs and although he is polite greeting on leash and all around easy-going company, we saw who he gravitated to and had a spark with. This is always nice for us to observe because if you are here looking for a dog to add to your pack or matchmaking a +1 for your current dog, you likely know what their “type”is too. So Toby’s easy, natural connection was an older female, 4-5 years old, with a very similar energy to his, easy-going, friendly but not pushy, with a quiet confidence. Although Toby would be good company, he is also the kind of dog that does not need a +1 as long as he has his people. He is pretty ideal for a family or individual looking to skip over the energetic dog days of the young years of a dog and get right to the good part- calm companionship and lots of quiet naps near by. That is going to be Toby! Plus, he is great with kids! He is fostered in a home with two kids age 3 and 8 who love snuggling up next to him and wandering around the yard together. His foster shared he is both house and crate trained and rides great in the truck! Personally, Toby went right for my heart but he is definitely my personal fave type of dog- no looks involved- vibes only. This is a dog that gives a familiar presence straight away, in a way that makes it feel like he has always been yours. When you head out on walks, no one will ever wonder how long you have had him either. He has great leash skills and keeps an easy pace, giving off “we’ve known each other forever.” Toby was introduced to our house cat during his visit and was interested but moved on quickly. Typically this would indicate a dog being cat-tolerant but in Toby’s case we are willing to test him again as we recognized in the moment, he was tired from a walk and the heat that day, factors that can give us a misleading observation. If you have a cat and are interested in Toby, please be in touch so we can truly explore if a home with feline friends is possible. If an affectionate boy with chill vibes, the makings of a water-boy, and a great walking partner are what you are looking for… Toby is your guy!
